Ol’ Porter had to sell a lot of $2 tickets to pay for just his hairspray and Nudie suits.

The other day I learned the phrase, “Pulling a Hank Snow.” A way of saying, “I’m Movin’ On.”

Patsy Cline - "Walkin' After Midnight"
An amazing clip from the Arthur Godfrey Show, w/4 Country music legends: Patsy on vocals, producer Owen Bradley on piano, & 2 Nashville session aces on guitar: Grady Martin & Hank Garland, who both can be seen at the very end (1957)

Judge for yourself:

Ernie Chaffin was born in Water Valley, North Mississippi in January, 1928. He recorded what can only be described as the most original music to come out of the famous SUN Studio. Sam Phillips must have heard and seen something great in Ernie to release 4 singles, this during the heydey of the major Rockabilly explosion in the South

Great clip Kafka
Hank Garland was great. He led a very interesting and tragic life. ...very sad ending.

Excellent songs. His vocal and vibe remind me of Chris Isaak, especially on "I'm Lonesome".
His sound on that was way ahead of it's time.
Here's one for you... A singer named Sydney Jordan wrote this song, performed it on The Midnight Special, and was never heard from again. The song was released by a group, but as close as I can tell Sydney Jordan never recorded it or even released a record of any kind.
Great song.
