Being someone who was a teenager in the 70s, my definition of Classic Rock is music from the 70s and 80s.

OG "classic rock" was basically when AOR aged out into the MTV era. So, the original definition was, at least, broadly AOR and AOR adjacent, after the 1970s. It slowly expanded and, now, as someone else pointed out, it largely means "rock music more than 20 or so years old."

to me classic rock is a sound not a time frame.
Would Greta Van Fleet be classic rock then?

Would any of Aerosmith's songs post- 70s be considered classic rock?

It's interesting a definition doesn't seem to really exist. We just "know" what it is!

I would consider some of Aerosmiths songs of the 80s Classic Rock.

I would say mid 60’s through mid 80’s.

Rough definition: Guitar-driven, blued-based rock created from roughly the mid-60s to the early/mid-80s.
