I am finally about to start my build of my system for my new home that I will be closing on next month. Hopefully
I will be putting this "system" in my Great room which is decently large because it is connected to my kitchen and dining room as these new floor plans are these days.
As for usage, I will probably use this system more for listening to music and some home theatre. More than likely, I will try to start with two floor speakers, a center speaker and a sub. I will eventually add two back speakers giving me a 5.1 system but not at the beginning. I probably wont be able to add back speakers at first and if I do, I am thinking about the ceiling mounted speakers as space back there is at a premium. But like I said, I will more than likely listen to this with music more than movies
I have been doing some research and looking at Emotiva and SVS for speakers and amps/Preamps. I also would like a streamer as I have a Tidal High-Fi plus account and love it. Plus I do have a turntable that I would like to connect. I have just purchased a Samsung QLed 75" 4K flat screen for that area.
I was thinking about going with a preamp/amp set up where I could do a 5 channel preamp and 3channel amp to start with since I will have two floor speakers and a center channel. Then Id be able to just add a smaller 2 channel amp when I eventually added the back speakers. Down the road
My budget is probably somewhere around 7k to get started for the Amp/Preamp, streamer, 2floor speakers, center channel and sub.
I was looking at the SVS Prime Pinnacle floor speakers and SB-2000 pro sub. Have not heard any of thier center speakers but have an appointment Tuesday at a local dealer to do so.
Was thinking about going with Emotiva Amp/Preamp as I have heard a few of them and was impressed with the sound and performance. I have not researched the streamers much but I know I want one that uses a app and has front panel controls. Actually liked the Cambridge streamers and could go that way. Local shop has them as well.
Any thoughts on using SVS prime speakers with Emotiva power? I know that Emotiva has speakers but I honestly know nothing about them.
TIA

I don't have a surround sound system anymore, but I used to have a cylindrical shaped SVS sub. It would knock pictures off the wall. It had crazy, powerful bass.

Dial it in properly and watch your levels and you won’t have to worry about that.

I have made my mind up on my speakers. I am going with the SVS Prime Pinnacle towers and center channel and a SB-200 Pro sub all in Piano black
Id like to use Emotiva power and control but I just cant find a combo that will work. I may need to get some help with that part.

I ordered my Amp and Processor yesterday. Now all I need is a Streamer.
I went with the Emotiva BasX MC1 Processor and the BasX A3 (3 channel) amp. I wanted to go with the XPA-3 amp but that beast was too big for the cabinet my wife purchased. Im playing nice since she is letting me put this system in our great room instead of my music room.
The A3 has some great reviews and honestly will be plenty of power for us.
It will power the SVS Prime Towers and the Prime center channel speaker I have ordered. Later, I will add two back speakers and a A2 amp to power them. Simple system

I am looking at the Bluesound Node you recommended. A lot of people love that thing. Very highly recommended. My only issue with it is that it does not have front panel controls. I would love NOT to have to have my phone every time I use my system. It would be great to just turn it on and use the front panel on my streamer to pick some tunes.
I also have a Audio-Technica AT-LP3 Turntable I am going to connect.
It is a little pricy but I am looking at the Cambridge CXN-V2 Steamer. It has everything I want and more. Just pricy..
