Gaslight Anthem for sure. Make the cover of Spin but it didn't seem to push them higher. I figured after their third album you would catch them on the radio but nope. Looking forward to their 4th album.

Gotta throw in the Jayhawks,and King's X is a great call.
Both these bands influenced music in a real subtle way.

And you have proven my point perfectly. They were hyped initially because they wrote a damn solid album at 14 years old. Their music evolved spectacularly from post-grunge songs into highly sophisticated albums, which aren't going to produce a bunch of radio hits.
Also, their career trajectory was limited by Daniel's health problems during and after Freak Show.

I honestly don't think anyone who has seen them live with a healthy Daniel can say they are not a fantastic band.
