Great call. Always out of step with the world, but just a great band. Making Movies is such a good album.

Gaslight Anthem for sure. Make the cover of Spin but it didn't seem to push them higher. I figured after their third album you would catch them on the radio but nope. Looking forward to their 4th album.

Gotta throw in the Jayhawks, and King's X is a great call.

Both these bands influenced music in a real subtle way.

I think I would consider them underachieving, not underrated. They were given a ton of hype with their debut album and couldnt really hold on to mainstream appeal after their first few hits.

And you have proven my point perfectly. They were hyped initially because they wrote a damn solid album at 14 years old. Their music evolved spectacularly from post-grunge songs into highly sophisticated albums, which aren't going to produce a bunch of radio hits.

Also, their career trajectory was limited by Daniel's health problems during and after Freak Show.

One Way Mule laughs at your underachieving assertion

I honestly don't think anyone who has seen them live with a healthy Daniel can say they are not a fantastic band.
