Been nothing but dogshit cover bands for quite some time.

There’s been some great shows that have come through BR in the last 10 years. Between varsity, Chelsea’s, spanish moon, mud and water (shoutout JW) there really were some great ones. Now none of those venues exist anymore save the new Chelsea’s.

The new Chelsea’s is going to be very consistent bringing in big shows every weekend. The booking is a force right out of the gate. They’ve been killing it.

And people in BR do turn out for good original touring bands. That’s been proven. Can it improve? I think it will. Chelsea’s seems to be promoting to lsu students like no one has ever really done before with their marketing team.

If people want to be loud during a full band show whatever. I don’t get it because I’m there for the music. But when it’s literally a guy and an acoustic guitar and he asks the crowd to be respectful before playing and people STILL can’t shut up it baffles me. Just some self absorbed rude arse people. It was funny when he told them that they can leave and thanks for coming.

Drunks, so disrespectful and annoying at any show anywhere.

It’s not just a BR problem but it is definitely a BR a problem.

That’s a cultural thing in BR. In BR, the cultural default for an outing is “the tailgate”. At a tailgate, there is music, food, booze, sports games, and good company, but all of that is just background to serve the interest in socializing and conversing with others. The music is just a soundtrack to the conversation, not the focus.

The majority of BR people who like to go out to where music is performed are there to socialize. The music is not the focus, just an excuse for the conversation to happen. This can be aggravating at events where the music is meant to be the main focus.

Sorry for all of yall that haven't made it out to the NEW Chelsea's because they're going to have to build a NEW NEW Chelsea's since Lucero just burned it down to the ground!

Incredible show!

I actually came in town this weekend to check out the venue... Never heard a song by Charley Crockett before, but I heard he puts on a good live show...

gonna be checking out Samantha Fish there in a couple weeks. Girl is fire on a cigar box. She can sing a little bit too. Hope it's a nice venue.

Any band that does Replacements/Big Star/Hold Steady covers..is up my alley.

Wish I wouldve been Kissing the Bottle last night at Chelsea's..was at a party down the road in the Garden District..the young ones were headed to Ivar's late.

Used to love Chelsea's and Spanish Moon picking up the Varsity scheduling gaps.

Glad BR is getting back on the touring map. Nawlins is outta control, Tips, One Eye Jack, etc.nogo for me right now.

Good news for BR ... too many creative lulls or indifference (Varsity), listening rooms (no offense), bad taste or uninspired booking (all of the downtown spots).

Chelsea's is a no brainer to dominate the small market as long as they want to. And it's very simple why:

1. Established talent buyer with connections and taste working with a local brand name
2. Quality ownership that mixes business savvy with a passion for the music
3. The benefit of opening recently, so modern design and equipment to separate from what's left of the stalwarts.

I wish I would have had a decent partner or collaborator ... M + W could still be open (pandemic withstanding) and serving it's niche as the small room in town (200 or less shows). BR could still use and support that, but for all mid sized touring shows there will be no competition for Chelsea's.

for something like the new Chelsea's, I would imagine a half a million. But to be fair I haven't been in the area since it opened, nor did i see the space before the build out.

Not gonna lie I feel like if somebody was like buy a stake in this new venue in exchange your band can play here and you get some say in who we book and you could tell chicks you owned it I would definitely do it
