I had heard the term but we are going to a bar for my wife's bday next week and the bar has a Yacht Rock cover band playing so I listened to a Spotify yacht rock playlist last night. It's the crap we made fun of back then.

But now it's nostalgic.

I get that, but it seems it's people that weren't born when this music was popular that like it. What is that called?

They don't have music. All they have is crap generated by algorithms generated for popularity.

I wasn't going to say it but ok. Although there are lots of good young bands around now that I listen to.

Pop rock has gone the way of algos for awhile now...tell me more about the new bands. I consider Gojira new I know they've been around awhile. Saw them a couple weeks ago in OKC one of the best live shows I've ever seen.

I'm not aware of this. I went to a Christopher Cross concert a couple of years ago, and I'm pretty sure that my wife and me (40s) were among the youngest there.

Now, there IS a big synthwave movement that's been happening for a while now. But that doesn't have much of a connection to Yacht Rock.

I don't doubt there are old CC fans. I'm referring to the Yacht Rock trend. Is it being driven by 60 year olds ...I doubt it.

Looking them up...not really into techno much any more beyond the stuff I knew in the 90s but I'll check it out. Trying not to be an old fart.

Other than the Outlaw Country, I wish I knew what y'all were talking about. All I really know is Cajun Slamgrass.

Just type in "yacht rock" into Spotify or whatever music streaming provider you use.

I'm with you. But these guys twist knobs but also play instruments. Also look up IDLES and Fountaines DC and Squid.

I created a playlist for my pool and this is me finding out it's got a good yacht rock influence. Didn't know this was "a thing" more than just beach music.

I took some creative licenses here and there though....I think.

Don't mess with my boy Steve Winwood.
