I became more severely pissed, the older I got, that I missed "Through the Never" and "S&M" events because I wasn't paying attention. I think George Carlin died, and I was like, "I don't actually have the convenience of time."

I just got around to listening to it today. I think a lot of us in this thread are echoing the same thing.
Metallica's latest albums just don't have the same hook as their older albums. No song is memorable or stands out from each other and I can't tell the difference between any song on their last 3 albums.
Name any of their older albums and there are always certain songs and styles that pop into mind.
Kill Em All - instantly think of Four Horseman and its guitar riff
Ride the Lightning - Fade to Black
Master of Puppets - Title track
Justice for All - One
Black album - Enter Sandman, as overplayed as it is. Unforgiven
Load - Bleeding Me, Hero of the Day
Reload - Fuel, again as overplayed as it is. Outlaw Torn
St. Anger - Title track. Frantic
Death Magnetic - ??
Hardwired to Self Destruct - I know there's a title track, but outside of those specific lyrics the rest of the song itself escapes me
72 Seasons - ??

Death Magnetic - My Apocalypse
Hardwired to Self Destruct - Spit out the Bone, Moth into Flame

Actually most people are saying the opposite. It's a very catchy album, the variety of favorite tracks shows that. I don't see how you can form that opinion after 1 day. I believe it's the best album since Load for sure.
