I went Friday night. Pantera was absolutely amazing, and if I'm being honest, may have been better than Metallica.

That being said, I was sitting in the 300's. I was definitely disappointed with the acoustics in the stadium. Even more disappointing was that AT&T stadium has the largest HD screen in the world and the damn thing was turned off. It would have really helped to have them showing on the big screen.

It was my first time seeing Metallica as they have been a bucket list for me for a while. My biggest takeaway was that I would love to see them in a smaller venue.

Some of the songs sounded great, but some of them you couldn't even hear the guitars and all you could hear was Lars pounding.

Best parts:
They opened with Creeping Death and it was fricking awesome
The guitar harmony on Master of Puppets was euphoric. Best sound that came out of those speakers all night. Could hear every note Kirk and James were playing.
They played the Day that Never Comes, which is personal fav
Sanitarium sounded great

Well the snake pit didn't sound much better. Not sure what people are smoking that think the sound was OK. BUT it was pretty cool to literally have them a foot from us. Lars is nasty though...he was spitting everywhere and a big blob of spit hit the dude next to me on the shoulder. Wife was like get me tf outta here lol.

The set list tonight was weird
Overall it was fine but there was a chunk of material from new album and a random St Anger song (James introduced as from your favorite album)

Then an even weirder moment where they stopped playing a new song after a minute because the vibe was dead

They got it back but it was strange
Friday was better song wise, sound was a bit better tonight

My kid loved that they played Dirty Window.

This was my son’s first rock concert and he’s a super Metallica fan. His voice is completely gone; what a show!!

Simulcast sound was great. I figured audio wise I was having a better experience than if I was there. Great show.

Setlist was a surprise from what I thought it was going to be. Personally I like all the albums before the Black album. Really enjoyed the show and thought they sounded great.

A lot of the local chapter members were warning of the poor acoustics in the mid to upper levels of the stadium from previous concerts there. I'm fortunate I didn't have to experience this.

I watched from C135 on night 1 and the snake pit on night 2. The sound was great each night.

Highlights for me were Leper Messiah, Ride The Lightning and The Call of Ktulu. All three I heard live for the first time.

What concert did you attend? They never once stopped playing in the middle of the song.

Night 1 had a stronger opening (if not the strongest out of all the shows I have attended) with Creep, Harvester, and Leper.

Night 2 was better overall. 4 songs from RTL and the material from 72 seasons was better.

Its strange..We were in C133 row 8 and it sucked and in the snake pit night 2 and it sucked

Wild how we were in essentially the same spots and had totally different audio experiences.

Was your view from C133 obstructed by a tower? Did you see the woman climb the tower during Pantera's (?) set?

I was there both nights.
Sunday they had to restart the ending riff of You Must Burn - it was just weird. At first I thought they began and quit a new song based on crowd reaction.

Ride the Lightning was amazing - one of my favorites and Kirk nailed the solo (speaking of he has a two hour interview with Rick Beato on Youtube that is great you can see his passion)

The groove of the second night was just odd. If you look at the setlist in a vacuum it seems fine because there are many great songs on Sunday night. But all the 72 seasons stuff with Dirty Window in a row after the opening of Whiplash/Bellz/Lightning was a buzzkill - you could feel the wind going out of the crowd. It took the entire night to build momentum back.

You nailed it. The night started off with an absolute bang with Whiplash/Bells/Lightning(the place was going off) & then Dirty Window followed by the new songs just killed the vibe. Dirty Window could arguably be called the worst song on their worst album. None of us could figure out why they would play it. Die hard Metallica fans are way harder on the band than the casual fan. And trust me, there were a ton of casual fans being in DFW. Tons of die hards like us too.

To me Friday night was better with Pantera going straight into Metallica. It was absolute pandemonium on the floor during the Pantera tribute & we didn’t even find out about the girl climbing up the lighting/speaker rig until the next day. We were having to hold the line with the circle pit running around up against us.

It wasn't terribly obstructed...just knocked out a portion of the left side of the circle stage. And no, I never saw a women climbing the tower...what was that all about and how did she get down?

As a group of near 50 year olds, I have to admit that by Sunday afternoon the energy tank was running a bit low. Drove up Thursday night, pregamed Friday and had a hell of a time Friday night, then partied on Saturday as well. I know my energy level was low Sunday night, and looking around I don't think I was the only one

In hindsight, pushing through for an extra hour on Friday night and getting say 20-22 songs might have been better than splitting it over the 3 days, even if we did get 32 total songs

Do you know of anywhere the Arlington set list for both days is posted? Was it the same (I'm assuming yes) as NYC earlier this month? Friday looks better than Saturday.

They fricked up the middle section. After finishing the song, Kirk and Lars started to jam to that section and James and Rob jumped in and performed that section correctly. I thought it was clear what they were doing.

Ride The Lightning was phenomenal. I love that song too.

I thought the crowd around me during night 1 was calm the entire evening. Fuel got the biggest reaction out of the them IMO. Hardwired was the biggest let down, for me at least.

I was indifferent to Dirty Window. It's St. Anger trash, but I went along with it since it was the first time I was hearing it live.

Lars was directly in front of me for Ktulu, Clover, Roam, and Moth. He was a joy to watch.

Were you close to the guy with the straight gray hair with the sign that James bent down to talk to?
