I could care less what you post or don't post. I just like to call out idiots who think they have it all figured out. Do yourself a favor and get off these boards and enjoy life. Instead of sitting here bashing other people's opinions, go out and actually see live music. Support your local music scen instead of this damn message board. I really hope to god you are just messing around cause you would be a total drag to be around. Would you like to talk about the shows this weekend? That's why I came to the board today. That's what should be taking place on the phish thread IMO. And I'm not mad at you, but I am upset with all of the unnecessary hate that has popped up again. This is just where I decided to vent.

Ok then. I was going to ask if it was too much panic that killed your friend.
You realize we're all at work, right? Its not like we are choosing the message board over any real activities.

I laughed a little, but I felt bad about it afterwards

I agree with you bro, but no one is gonna learn what they don't wan to know.
Most kids think the Grateful Dead suck too. If only Jerry had a trampoline.

You think most phish fans think the dead sucks?

Quite the opposite. You see tons of Steal Your Face gear all over the newer generations. They won't be able to name many jams or specific shows, but the Grateful Dead are most definitely "cool" in their eyes.

The new 3.0 phans are terrible.

Some are good, some are bad. Like all groups of people.

All true, but throw on a Dead show and they're bored. Not all but most.

Regarding the actual shows, it is interesting seeing how much some songs have changed. Do y'all think the band purposefully doesn't try to go "out there" much or do you think it's largely due to trey not being smacked out?
I know when they came back Trey said he listened to a ton of the 94 shows and wanted to get back to tight playing on the composed sections with shorter songs and lots of songs (I think he referenced most of the 2001s being around 5 mins at that time).
The reason I ask about it being purposeful is I still feel like when the jam starts to get out there, he seems to get anxious and tries to bring a new song in instead of just going with it (but he has been getting more patient over the past year). Also seems like he's using a lot more chordal riffs than normal whereas he used to come soaring out of some of the themes with licks that made your mind explode.
Long story short: do you think the lack of consistently taking songs into new territory is a phase of just an evolution of the band?
And btw I'm not necessarily complaining, I love seeing this band.

I dont think this is true at all. I think if you polled 100 people in a phish lot and asked them who their second favorite band is, over half would say the dead.

That wasn't mean. You just proved to this whole board that you truly are nothing but a bitch. My friend died of cancer and you will never be 1/10 of the man he was. You aren't even a man, you're a child who gets off on trying to piss other people off behind a keyboard. I truly feel sorry for you.

I think it really depends on the vibe of the party. To me, the Grateful Dead are perfect four outdoor activities. Especially for outdoor tripping. Everyone seems to enjoy them in that setting
