If you are implying that "you had to be there with Mikey" for WSP then whatever. I didn't "have to be there" for Band of Gypsys or The Who in 1970 or the Grateful Dead to "get" their live show. I do know that I have seen WSP with Herring over 5 times and it is borderline awful.
Could really give two shits what you think you have figured out and what you don't. But since this is a message board, i'll entertain you. I'm sure you do have phish figured out from a listening standpoint. But I don't really think you "get" it. Soundboards are amazing for new fans. They let you go back in time per se. But listening and experiencing it are too completely different things as you already know. I'm glad you enjoy Phish I really am. I think it's awesome and I still enjoy it to this day. I'm always asked my favorite show....the next one (cliche' I know)
As for Mikey with Panic. Yes you did kinda have to be there. It felt like you were floating in a sea of musical notes. Completely different than nowadays. I do love what Jimmy is doing with the band. From a technical standpoint Mikey couldn't carry Jimmy's guitar case. But that isn't everything. Mikey just had that sound combined with JB's voice that I fell in love with. You may not like it, but he created his own style and way of playing. It was very unique

Jimmy is an amazing guitar player, but he has made Panic awful. GMac was a better fit.

Not at all my friend. I feel like we had some pretty good conversations awhile back. It is certainly fine to not like WSP. I can totally understand where that comes from. What I am talking about is the insistent hate and making statements about them not having any talent. The bashing on their fans just cause they enjoy them. That just shows your ignorance IMO.

shite man, that happens with every band every thing. We frick around on here and for the most part it is all in jest. And it isn't exclusive to phish fans, I went to lockn and was trying to get to the grounds early a few of my friends said "I don't care about that shite I'm only here for panic". Whatever, that shite happens with all fans and they may have just been fricking with me cause that's what friends do. I think you may be overgeneralizing with the phish crowd and based on internet bullshite but that is just me.
