if you bros are back to serious phish talk, i'd like to share some n00b musings. seeing all this excitement for the tour, i've been giving phish a try lately. there was a thread about what phish songs or albums to start with, so i tried a little Billy Breathes. i couldn't get past the first song, "Free". sounded like awful dad rock with no jahmz. very produced, non-authentic sound...can't go back there.
since they're a jamband, i decided the loljams are probably on the studio albums, and the real boss omgjahmz must be the live stuff. pulled up Alpine Valley 2010 and let it play. hard to tell when songs begin and end, but I think i'm about 5 or 6 songs deep. i'm not big on lyrics and singing anyway so i'll probably always cringe a little listening to some of this, but i heard some interesting things when troi ventured away from the pentatonic sounding blues stuff. probably 2 or 3 jahmz so far i thought were pretty cool. will investigate more later.

Someone just dropped a matrix/sbd recording. It sounds great. Should be on archive soon.

Don't be a pussy, just jump the frick in:
11/26/94 David Bowie
oh yea two notes about that jam: 1) skip the vaccum cleaner shite in the middle. it's stupid. 2) if you don't like 29:30 to the end of that jam, just stop now

This.
If you don't feel like listening to a whole show at once, check out these Phish destroys America compilations. I don't know that you can listen and not enjoy them.
