I would rather not wait until October to decide whether or not I want to go. Basing my decision off of Dick's will allow me to get cheaper flights/hotels

I just wouldn't expect Dick's to be on the same level as 2012 because of that aforementioned layover. It will be similar to last year- really fun shows but lacking a bit in the jamming department.
2011 was pretty fantastic as well, but those '12 shows were just unbelivable. 8.31.12 (frick YOUR FACE) is the best show of 3.0 IMO and the next night with the big Antelope opener and extra terrestial Light in Set II was top tier as well.
Who knows though. Maybe they will come out and do a killer run. They definitely have enough affinity towards the venue for something like that to happen.
