If you like DMB, you should check out O.A.R. and Tea Leaf Green. Just real chill mellow jams man. Top tier stuff

As much as I love The Band, them being a jam band is news to me.
Yea, The Band wasn't a jam band. They even said so. Eric Clapton quit Cream in the late 60's to go to Woodstock and see if he could join The Band. Upon arriving and sitting there watching them he was told by guitarist Robbie Robertson:

"We don't jam. We don't jam, so there's no point in sitting here and trying to, you know... We just write and work.

The recording you listened to might be Scandinavian Nights. There are extended versions of Wring That Neck, Mandrake Root and Child In Time. One of my favorite recordings.

GTFO... Who would want to listen to some guys playing on a laptop? Jam Bands require talent and actual musical instruments. Not some ginger playing on a laptop and a 45 yo dude with a flatbill on thumping his base. That's not real music bub.

MMJ is awesome, but like someone else said with respect to The Band, I just don't categorize them in the "jam band" scene. Same thing with Allman Bros (although they haven't been legitimate since Duane's passing).
Posted on 8/31/16 at 2:45 pm to Damone
So you don't think Eat A Peach is legitimate? Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes facing off with Les Paul machinery for over a decade is not legitimate? Your musical opinion moving forward will be filed under "irrelevant".

I mean you can have Eat a Peach since Duane's influence was all over it. But what Gregg has done to them recently is a shame. Just living off the name, kind of like Widespread Panic after Houser died.
Posted on 8/31/16 at 2:55 pm to Damone
They included some Filmore jams, but they had songs that didn't have his influence.
Their touring schedule trumps any lack of new material.

Exactly what that Gregg has "done to them" is a shame?

My Morning Jacket isn't a jam band, for one
