New song kicks arse, has a Funeral, Neon Bible type of feel.

Arcade Fire
I'm continually amazed at how 12 people up on a stage can put out such a tiny, tinny sound - almost the opposite of Wall of Sound. I've tried many times to give these guys a try (including in this thread) but I just don't see it. What am I missing? What is INDISPUTABLY a great song of theirs for me to give another chance to?

Have you listened to any of Suburbs? I disliked Neon Bible and hadn't heard Funeral, so I wrote them off. But Suburbs is what hooked me, with the opening track.

I saw them at Toulouse last Sunday night. There were a total of 9 people and it sounded pretty big in there.

Have all of Arcade Fire's stuff and I'd have to go with The Suburbs as my favorite and Neon Bible as my second.

Reflektor is great, though. "Awful Sound" and "Porno" stick out to me on that album.

Totally agree. The Arcade Fire magic, for me, is Funeral. Holy shite that album blew my mind. I really liked their other albums but they just never hit that captivating for me again. Same with Band of Horses. First few albums…. Blew my mind. Never recaptured it (and That includes the latest, which is really good). Not sure if that is a testament to when I discovered the bands and where I was in my life or some objective quality of the music.

Oh man. This gave me chills. Just brought me back to my early 20's.

I remember I saw BOH open for Iron and Wine at the Variety in Atlanta in maybe 2005, right before their first album came out, and I was blown away. Had never heard of them and I just fell in love with their sound. I thought they sounded like a little bit different version of MMJ, who was another band that I was way into for that mid to late 00's time period.

On the Arcade Fire side, Funeral is probably my favorite album of that decade. I wore that thing out for months when it came out. They kind of lost me at Reflektor. I even saw them on that tour and it just didn't capture me like their previous albums did. Obviously, it was a bit of a different sound, but something was lacking for me. I only made it through Everything Now twice and haven't listened to that since. Haven't heard the new one yet, but I'll have to check it out.

I can't wait for this one.

I think I'm actually gonna order a physical copy of this, I haven't bought a CD in 10 years.

Peter Gabriel is in this one with Father John Misty adding things on the soundboard.

Fellas I think we have a good one here.
