REKs recorded material makes one expect a high-energy party-hard type show, but his shows tend to have a more laid back feel. It's not "wrong", it just doesn't exactly matchup with expectations. Now, to Docs point, maybe his shows weren't always like this.
REK is not exactly a spring chicken anymore. I still enjoy his shows, his band is fantastic.

REK. More trim will be at Lauberge that night due to Kelly Picker playing
REK is also an Aggie. I would think that Varsity, it being closer to the stadium and on campus, that more trim/ college kids would be there. I may be wrong?

Certain tracks are great. "Flash Flood" and "Speak of the Devil" are my favorites. I mean, it's not my favorite thing he's ever put out but he definitely hasn't gone Nashville, either.

Thanks! You have not steered me wrong yet.
Does anyone if they are gonna be letting lil kids on the lawn? I am guessing KP has a little girl following.

Didn't know about him firing label. Good news IMO
Also, REK shows are usually a party for the poster that said its sometimes laid back. I actually think the opposite in regards to his albums and concerts. With songs like Gringo Honeymoon, Corpus Christi Bay, and Feeling good again, he usually speeds them up and makes the tempo enjoyable.
The thing about Robert Earl is that he is a weird cat. One show he will come out hammered and energetic with the crowd. The next he may come out hammered and detached, sort of staring off into space. Both personas he brings to the stage are awesome. Also, Rich Brotherton is one of the best guitarist I've ever seen. Wish Randy and Rob were playing back to back at same venue.

Lauberge concerts are 21+.
Kinda funny last time I saw RRB was on the lawn at Lauberge, and the last time I saw REK was at the Varsity.

Maybe I've only seen the detached.
I have seen both Pat Greens.

Oh, Gotcha. Still, my statement about drunk college kids remains the same. I'm sure some Aggie hussies will be in town for Friday night.

Poor Pat. His wife gave him an ultimatum so he "quit" drinking. Which obviously just means he drank more. Haven't seen him play in a very long time so I'm not sure what his shows are like now.
As for REK vs. RRB...I've seen them both, although I've seen Randy wayyyyy more...and as much as I like REK, I'm going RRB every time.

If REK plays at 8:30, hell I may catch both shows. Drinks on me.

Are the tickets for REK still around $50? I like REK but I'm not going to pay that inflated price to watch Kelly pickled too.

I've seen both a half dozen times or so. I'd probably go see RRB. Never been disappointed at a REK show though.
