I admittedly live under a rock when it comes to current music.
That said I was just exposed to this guy, and loved what I heard.

Good energy, talented band. He usually closes out the Acura stage on last Sunday of Jazz Fest. Good times.

Played trombone way back in the day; I love hearing great players. Thanks for sharing this.

Dude is one hell of a performer. Definitely someone I recommend everyone check out in person whenever convenient.

Scott Van Pelt has been playing TS during his ESPN Late Night intros and Bad Beats segments for close to 15 years.
If ya like Shawty and horns, more music definitely worth listening to. Both these bands have been playing together for over 20 years and can move the crowd :
The Hot 8 Brass Band , The Soul Rebels

Love the Soul Rebels, and their cover of Sweet Dreams is fire. They are here next Friday and I have a conflict, dammit. Trombone Shorty comes through fairly often and frequently brings some other NOLA folks with him.

First time I saw Trombone Shorty was at an Aaron Neville performance at intimate little Snug Harbor around 2000.
We had never heard of him. Aaron called him out on the stage and this skinny little teenager with a trombone came out and blew us away. His energy and sound was amazing.

Wasn’t Trombone Shorty viral for a little while playing on a plane or something like that?
