I consider first-ballot hall of fame bands to be the top tier, Grade A, great bands. Obvious caveats for the early years of the Hall of Fame catching up.

I consider eventual hall of fame bands to be good bands. There are a lot of good bands being considered great for being in the hall of fame, but I see a difference.

I don't like Journey, but they're good. If I favor anything it's pre-Perry. I also think Perry is a good singer, but their whole package just seems too produced to me. Same goes for Styx, Foreigner, et al.

Talented but, for my taste, the talent was wasted on terrible power pop shite.

Had a friend that worked as a recording engineer in LA. He said Steve Perry had some severe halitosis. Always thought that was funny since that was the first thing this guy remembers from working with Steve Perry. Have no idea if it’s true or not, but he always talked about how it would run people out of the studio.

Journey never did it for me. Same with Styx, REO Speedwagon, etc.

Overexposed to death.

No. They were the Nickleback of the early “80’s.

Listen to them before they went pop, and were a spin-off of Carlos Santana's band. They were incredible.
