So what you are saying is we need a big who can score. So we need that #1 pick.

extend this to suggest who and realistic how you get him.

as someone posted yesterday on this topic, the other team is not oblidged to do your deal if you say jv and 2 2nds for denvers jokic.

This has always been my argument about the 5 issue, once the Myles Turner option sailed.

I pick shooting because it's realistic and can be done on a budget (which is priority #1 for this team apparently)

Does anyone else think EJ will help us also? I know he was a good defender and rebounder in college. Only downfall is he’s 6’6.

look at the other couple centers mocked to the first round. wembanyama will be long gone when pels and laker picks happen.

you dont need a first team all star. thats zion.
and ingram is nba all star game roster when 100%.

you need a decent big at mid round relatively bargain prices.

We have 3 bigs that can score and rebound well (not including Jax), and Larry is actually a decent shot blocker for a small ball 5. The issue is only Larry can reasonably play the 4, and he is also our best 5 against mobile bigs, plus Willy rarely uses him at the 4 even in games like Cleveland.

So, the issue is we usually get hammered in the paint when we run Larry at the 5 and one of Trey/Herb/Naji/BI/Dyson at the 4 against teams with 2 legit bigs.

Obviously when Zion is playing you can run Larry and Zion which fairs better, but with Zion out the team keeps having issues.

We did upgrade shooting a bit with Josh, although the Suns getting Ross as a buy-out guy makes our cost seem relatively high, but we are gambling on Zion being highly available by not finding a real backup at the 4 and it took all of one game to see it bite us again.

Really hate we gave up on Wenyen Gabriel since he would slot right in as a backup 4 and was already on the team for the minimum. He shoots a bit and gives you 15/9 and a couple of stocks per 36 on 65% true shooting. But that mostly just shows what a huge gap the Pels have at the backup 4….almost anyone is an upgrade when we don’t have anything.

The only good thing is not that many teams run 2 quality bigs, unfortunately the playoffs is where you see many of those teams.

Then promise the brothers they will both be on the court when the horn sounds and the Pels win the NBA championship next year. Be the FIRST & ONLY time that will ever happen, in the NBA...so should be an easy sell.

So you’re playing Robin Lopez in crunch time of the nba finals? Am I reading that correctly?

Dereck Lively

As a Duke guy, I’ve watched A LOT of Dereck Lively this year, and he’s pretty much nothing on offense, save the occasional putback dunk or PnR lob, but he makes a HUGE impact on defense and grabs a ton of boards. I would love to see him on the Pels. He blocks everything, super athletic, can guard out on the perimeter.

Well, that's one way to interpret my post...OR...since I said Robin would "sit on end of the bench"...you COULD interpret my post to mean Robin would almost NEVER play but we could make a point of putting him in (even if we have to call TO with one second left) when we have the final game secured & then...BOTH would be on the court when the final horn blows.

Either way...the point of my post was to say that Brook Lopez would be the absolute BEST option we have for next year as far as getting a legit "5" that is a great defender & rim protector who can also shoot the 3 at a solid % while shooting about half his total shots from the 3-pt line. That is what I call...a perfect fit...for this Pels team. Of course, I doubt the Bucks will let him slip away but if I understand his situation correctly, he is an UFA after this year...so I say we get a bit devious...

that is an incredibly ridiculous sales pitch. Not your best work.

Brook Lopez would be a great get.

Of course, it is totally ridiculous...but I'm a desperate man...with a desperate plan. If you've got a better plan to pry him loose from the Bucks...I'm all ears. It is absolutely amazing how Lopez turned his career around just a few years ago by adapting to the 3-pt line...he's actually a better player today, at 34 years old...than he was when he was 28. (Horford at Boston is another example). A quick check of their past stats and you can see EXACTLY when they totally revamped their game.

Nowadays...a smart organization, is constantly on the lookout for some 28/29 year old "5", who is about to go over the hill in today's NBA...but who COULD develope into the next Lopez or Horford. He's out there, somewhere...the key is finding him first, before the other teams do.

Offer more money than the bucks.

But in reality the plan should be to find the next Lopez. Or the best imitation of him.

He’s a fascinating case study, for sure and could have made the all star team this team.

So Turner lol.

If Bam could be a real shooter it could be him down the line.
