NBA Draft scuttle: Hearing Detroit is open to discussing trades for its No. 12 overall pick in hopes of acquiring more of a win-now veteran.
I would assume going after a PG is the goal. That could be Pels relevant because it's another PG buyer on the market with a better asset than we have. Although for #12 they are probably aiming at the high end of available guys like Bledsoe/Dragic and hoping to dump Reggie Williams in the process.

Seems like Van Gundy may be feeling pressure after such a disappointing season. That is a poorly constructed team with a lot of salary. Unless Reggie is moved along with #12, they are going to need another 2 when KCP leaves.

I just took a look at their payroll. $5 million dedicated to Josh Smith (not really Stan's fault). Then Baynes and Boban at $13.5 really isn't that much better than Asik/Ajinca at $15.5. Throw in Ish at $6 compared to say Frazier at $2 and there is a ton of waste on the back end of the roster.
I was thinking they'd match KCP, but if they don't dump some payroll then matching a big offer would make them a tax team that isn't even a lock for the 8 seed.

Yep. They need to dump salary to re-sign KCP and even then, not a lock for the playoffs in the East. If they re-sign KCP without dumping salary, they will have ~$90M tied up in Drummond, Jackson, Harris, Leuer, and KCP. That is bad.

KCP is extremely mediocre. Most of the Pistons fans I've spoken to are fine with letting him walk. Honestly, I think there are unsigned free agents who can give you what he does.

The Blazers are rumored to be willing to part with one of their first to someone if they are willing to take either Crabbe, Leonard, or Turner (or another high salaried player).
Would you take any of those assuming Jrue walks?

I'd rather Bazemore if we're looking for guys that got paid to make a leap and didn't. I also seriously doubt they'll pay a 1st to dump Crabbe. He's the kind of young player that you can probably give away to the right situation. Brooklyn tried to grab him last year, why wouldn't they take him for free now? Crabbe at $18 is better than KCP at $25.
As for the other 2 guys, good luck with that Portland.

Nerlens Noel will reportedly receive multiple max offer sheets from teams around the league this summer.
If the rumors of multiple teams willing to give Noel 4/$108 are true, then it is obvious we are going to have another crazy offseason before things start to normalize to the new money.

I really do not believe this at all.
Everyone expects this summer to start a return to sanity.

Just looking at his stats and one thing that stood out is he's shot around 69% from the line the last 3 years. A rim protector that you don't have to take off the court in the 4th quarter definitely has value. If you're going to go after a defensive center he's probably the best on the market.

The question is why is Dallas allowing him to test the market? It seems a certainty that he gets maxed.

what i cant believe is that they got him for justin anderson, boguts contract and 2 2nd rnd picks.

not really letting him test the market- he's restricted.
this will probably depress his offers. only takes 1, but i dont see a team out there with the ability or desire to max a 5 out. and even if someone gets him to sign a max offer sheet, it's still cheaper than the max the Mavs could give him.
