re: Official CP3 Trade Discussion Thread

I hear you Lester, its clearly all conjecture at this point. Its also hard to take the MSB/Internet-in-general at face. The most vocal fans are on the net, and they are, in every instance, the overwhelming minority. 90% of NOLA proper doesn't even know this story exists, especially with fricking oil spills and tropical storms doing their thing.

Chris Broussard is such a douche hole. He's changed his mind from 50/50 to 60/40 that CP is leaving. You think he could wipe the LeBron James mgmt cum off of his face before he gets on tv.

his agent
sowing the seeds of discontent
and frankly if he gets traded the only place he should want to go is New York or New Jersey for the inevitable Carmelo sweepstakes
but CP3 has ZERO leverage here and I seriously doubt that he gets traded before, during or after a sale of the franchise. His leaving devalues the franchise and Shinn wants the money. Chouest is allegedly a CP3 fan so why trade him because of anonymous leaks in the media. Until CP3 says in front of a camera to trade him, then nothing is real.
He already has a contract, so play ball and STFU
the Lebron shite, this CP3 shite, is all the result of Stern making a move to feature the players over the teams in marketing. The NFL doesn't have this stuff because it is the team that people care about and the players are second. The NBA has this arse backwards and it is costing them

he may not be a prick but the people around him don't want him in new orleans. monty/demps won't chnge his mind. what will they tell him? theyre going to sign Carmelo? please.
I mean I guess, I don't know what they'll tell him. I said a month ago that I was resigned to a binomial world, and that he would probably not finish the season a Hornet. I've accepted that. Probably means less 100% though, definitely means 100%. I'm not willing to throw Paul's integrity under the bus that quickly, and I'm not willing to give two guys, particularly known for being able to connect with players, a mathematical equivalent of 0, just because of a CBSSports report.

Not really disagreeing but I think the labor situation kind of reinforces this.

Damn, really? Because he wants to get out of a shitty situation? I can't believe how fast people are turning on this guy. Dude was a fricking hero a month ago. He didn't become a prick overnight.
My goodwill towards CP3 started dissipating when it became clear that the big media push about trading him in the days before the draft came from World Wide Wes putting that bug in the ear of the Knicks and Nets as opposed to Shinn and Bower doing something stupid.
Things got steadily worse when he signed with the management group run by Maverick Carter and company, who just flushed LeBron's public image down the toilet through The Decision.
Now, I wouldn't trust CP3 as far as I can throw him because he's made it absolutely clear that his final goal is to be playing in a Heat-style trio, likely with Melo and Amare on the Knicks.
That means he walks in 2 years no matter what happens, so I'm not pleased with the idea of fricking our roster long-term in the vain hope of retaining him like Gilbert did with LeBron.

if he doesn't report their shite they don't take him to the clubs.

if they watch the news, i'm betting 90% of New Orleans folk know what's happening, even my grandma knows!

“In terms of our current salary structure on our roster, we want to gain more flexibility so we can take on different players,’’ Weber said. ”You have to look at it from that prospective as opposed to you are stuck with what you got and you have to add more depth. So I’m not going to start that in order for us to get better, we have go out and sign more guys and get more depth — that’s not the case.’’

this goes back to the early 80s when Stern was the Asst Commish
the league had a bad rep so they went out of their way to feature Larry Bird and the Boston celtics, Magic Johnson and the LA Lakers, etc
Then Jordan came along and everything blew up with the individual players being featured. The stupid CBA of the early 90s when immature guys were getting 100mm contracts before the age of 25 should have been enough to force the League to start focusing on the teams again. They didnt, they went even further and now the players (and consequently their agents) have WAY too much control over the League. Of course Stern says there was no collusion involving LBJ/Bosh/Wade everything before July 1 was done with Riley and their agents
The Super Friends is the inevitable result of this mentality and it is surprising it took so long for a team to circumvent the spirit of Free Agency and monopolize it.

the owners are not even on speaking terms.

Did they mention it? My parents were taking bets on what would come first, oil spill or tropical storm. I said, "Did they cover both of those yet, because fricking Chris Paul should be third." My dad (old white man, hates NBA, thinks their all thugs, opinion doesn't really matter, loves NFL though!) didn't care, my mom asked me "if LeBron was ever with us" (see: thread about stupid sports fans). I don't know if they eventually covered it, I grabbed one of these beast SOS' and hopped on the computer.

I was never sold that he would be traded so much as I predicted that he would want to be traded if the team didnt meet his selfish demands. So the threads I started wasn't so much that he will be traded in as much as "what if he is traded, what would be acceptable to Hornets fans?"
If Shinn was still the owner long term I would say chances are better that he would be traded. But since Shinn is trying to sell the team, trading him when he is locked up doesnt make financial sense. Especially with the Mopete deal freeing them of Luxury Tax hell.
So I guess I really am with you, I dont think he will be traded but it doesn't have anything to do with the "fans wont support the team without CP3 and the team will move" hysteria that is all over my CP3 trade from last year

there is no time table anymore for shinn to sell. he does NOT work well with other people. he lost every one of his partners in charlotte, his co-owner here(wooldridge), and drove Clay Bennett(OKC owner) away from the table to keep the Hornets in OKC. I think Shinn will eventually sell, and probably to Chouest, but there's no time table for this thing. It could out last Chris' contract, especially if the new CBA is beneficial to Shinn.

In this very post you admit that the circumstances are vastly different. 80% ownership, 20% cp3 apparently forcing it v. management shipping him out for financial reasons. Entirely different scenarios.

If he's in as dire straits financially as people make him out to be, he's got a timetable, it's when he runs out of money.
