I will be pissed if they let him go wherever he wants to go.I love cp3 as our pg,but you signed the deal quit whining and ball up!If i was in that meeting I would say you got 2 options
1.You shut up and play till your contract is up.

2.You dont want to be a part of this team?Ok we will trade you wherever the crap we want to,and I for one hope He goes to the coldest place available instead of the sun of orlando!

The earliest he can sign an extension is the offseason before his option year.

Do we do it? Or make him sign an extension first?

Extension, definitely. Anything requiring the team to make a significant long-term outlay as well as give up Collison would require a commitment on Paul's part.

I mean this team isn't that far off. If we could trade for Granger and sign Shaq for a year, we would be a damn good team this year.

Depends what it takes to grab Granger, IMHO.

After seeing the wreckage left behind in Cleveland after LeBron bolted, I'm VERY wary about mortgaging the team's future to cater to a guy who has his eye on the door.

At this point Shaq isn't much better than Aaron Gray.

Per 40 minutes, Shaq averages 20.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists.

Per 40 minutes, Aaron Gray averages 11.1, 11.6, and 2.7.

Take into account that Shaq isn't playing much more than 20 minutes a game on average, and I don't think he's going to have any significant impact on this team.

Shaq is not much better than Aaron Gray? You forget about that whole defense thing. Neither can defend the pick-and-roll, but at least Shaq holds down the paint.

If we do trade CP3, I'll be pissed if we don't force the other team to take on Emeka's contract. That's the biggest albatross in New Orleans right now. Or the Hornets could propose a straight-up swap of Paul for D Howard and see how they like that one.

Considering the low-ball offers a lot of people have floated for CP3, I'd suggest Okafor and West for Howard just to piss everyone off.

Skankel Flounder saying it doesn't look good:

Hornets hierarchy body language did not look upbeat if that's any indication of how meeting w/CP3 went. We'll hear from executives shortly.

Why does that make you happy, Thrillho?

If Paul forces his way, I will forever put him in Lester Earl's category.

How soon we forget Aaron Gray's magical defensive performance against one Dwight Howard last season.

Because I think it's stupid to build around Paul when you have a legit top 10 caliber PG behind him on the cheap for 3 more years at least + Paul is a chance to start the team anew. We probably won't be great without Paul, but we definitely won't be great with Paul and Okafor and the Collison lead team is a lot more fun to watch. Our best chance to win a championship ASAP is to get a young roster to build chemistry over the next 3 years while the new CBA makes these superteams impossible.

if we do this, we can't expect much back in terms of players and we may have to assume a bad (not as bad as emeka's) contract

Thrillho, there's still the problem of getting market value for Paul since he and his buddies have effectively depressed the price for him.

Trying to limit his destination to four specific teams as well as saying he desperately wants out is why we're getting so many BS lowball offers from everyone, as they think we'll take anything to get him out of here like we did with Baron.

Cool, I was just making sure you weren't just being an arse. Those are all very good points. I think the key here is to force whoever thinks they're going to steal CP3 to also take Okafor. The TC-Okafor trade should have been enough to fire Bower on the spot when it happened. We drafted pretty well when he was here, but the guy had no idea how to operate with a cap. He just kept digging a bigger and bigger hole.

The reason I think we should try to include picks is that it will allow us cap flexibility in the short-term as well as long term. I'm no guru, though.
