Iwundu looks like a decent piece if Vinson can work with him.

How so? Those two are very close. They were roommates and share an agent from what I've read. Not to mention the things Hart has tweeted since the JJ shut down and him feeling slighted by Griff at the beginning of the season. It's far more likely he goes than stays or demands an overpay

exactly how would a restricted free agent do either of these things?

If we're being Hart's defense is just about average, I don't think he's stopping anyone anymore than Bledsoe did. And I disagree about him being a championship glue guy. His defense and Jumper would have to improve to at least Bruce Bowen levels. It's possible I guess, but he's had the same time with Vison as everyone else and his shot is still off.

He can agree to an inflated or poison pill contract the team isn't willing to match. No one is doing a sign and trade for Josh Hart. Meaning, he'll walk for nothing. Make sense?

No one is signing Hart to an inflated contract. No one that has the cap space would and very few teams have it anyway.
If Hart is going to leave it’s either because we want him to and it’s a S&T to a decent team that is giving us something.

It’s a good thing it’s better than average than.
He’s a legit good defender being asked to default down a position because we lack a true backup 3/4/2.

Guys get inflated contracts every year. Missing out on 1st 2nd and 3rd tier stars lead to overpays for guys like Josh Hart. and if I'm not mistaken he'd have to agree to the s&t

I hope people aren’t piling on NAW for this game. Guy was clearly our best player tonight and put the game into overtime.

So what position does he defend well exactly? I've seen 1s 2s and 3s cook him quite often this season. His best defensive display was in that first Boston game imo. Can you point me to some specific match ups you recall him getting the upper hand on? Just names/games will do and I'll go check out the footage.

Game wouldn't have even been close if it wasn't for NAW. He'll be better

Show me the team that has the cap space to give Hart an inflated contract, and would.
It’s not there. It’s not going to happen.
Maybe a team signs him to the MLE and includes a trade kicker (if that can even be done for the MLE) but we would match that.

So hypothetically, you'd match Hart at say 4/48? Straight guaranteed, not increasing or decreasing?

I don’t know if you just don’t watch defense well, but statistically Josh Hart is one of our best defenders.
In on/off defensive metrics from cleaning the glass Hart is in the 80th percentile of opposing players efg%, 80% percentile of causing opposing team turnovers when he’s on the floor. Our second best overall player next to Lonzo in opposing team on/off efg% overall. According to NBA synergy stats he has the second lowest aggregate opponent FG%.
Not sure what world that guy is only average?
The NBA doesn’t have every game shutdown defenders. And only a few rare ones that can do it occasionally. It’s about slowing guys down, forcing them into less opportune shots and being in the right position in team defense and Hart does that well.

I've said this before...Being the tallest little person means nothing. Who cares if he's the best player defensively on the team, when the entire team sucks defensively lol thats a very low bar to clear. Your arse must have an infinite amount of sunshine to pump. We can agree to disagree. I actually hope we keep him but I really don't want to overpay for a role player on a non contending team.

One good defender can’t make an entire team good, it’s a collective effort that also includes good scheming.
Jrue being the best perimeter guard defender in the league and our D stinking most of the year attests to that.
