I'm starting to think that getting a DT would be good too. Helps the run defense, and a guy who can defend the run and generate pressure up the middle will help our DEs out in the pass rush. Maybe Paea?

i think i would rather go DE in round 1, then bust arse to get phil taylor in round 2...would probably require moving up to the first 10-12 picks though

He may not have fully recovered from his injury/surgery by the time training camp rolls around. Last year we had the "luxury" of drafting some guys we knew weren't 100% (and didn't play "positions of need").

I don't think that we should roll the dice on Paea. I'm also not big on Phil Taylor... I watched him against TCU and he was absolutely MANHANDLED (ZERO solo tackles, a handful of assists). In Taylor's defense - he was up against Marcus Cannon (projected late 1st - early 2nd) and Jake Kirkpatrick (Rimington Award Winner).

I'm no LSU homer - but Drake Nevis, although "undersized" was more consistently disruptive against guys who will be playing in the NFL. Nevis or Iowa's Christian Ballard would be good 2nd Round picks or Stanford's Sione Fua if we can get him in the 3rd.

FWIW - I can't wait to see Fua's bench number at the combine.

Fua sounds good. A lot of players from Hawaii do well in the NFL.

I would like to trade the first round pick and get more picks in the 2nd/3rd rounds.

After this past year, not sure why any Saints' fan would not want Ingram if there at 24. I think the Run D needs to be shored up as much as anyone. Still, an every down durable running back should be at the top of the list as well. You can't have Brees throw the ball 50 times a game and win week in and week out. Bush has had opportunity after opportunity to step up and be the guy and he has never done so.

All the backs were hurt! Our main power back was put on IR before the year started. Backs are a dime a dozen, not worth a first round pick. Learn something about this team and the NFL then come back and talk to the big boys.
