Not that it is mandated that you are active in philanthropy or even publicise that activity if you do it, but a brief Wiki search turned up this.
In 2007, Archie Manning was awarded the Silver Buffalo Award by the Boy Scouts of America.[9] The Silver Buffalo is the highest award given for service to Youth on a national basis.
Olivia Manning remains, active in charity and volunteer work in the community. This community work includes being a member of Women of the Storm, a group of New Orleans women that was created after Hurricane Katrina.
I know for a fact that Olivia and Arcie are much more active than what is stated in the Wiki article.

Yes he does but everyone gives him a free pass. Screw him and his sons. I am so glad that Drew Brees will go done as the best QB in Saints history so everyone wil STFU about Archie.
Obviously you were not alive during the Archie years...Archie was as good a QB as there was in the NFL during his time...NO Saints were terrible with a terrible owner...

the mannings are like any other talented La prospect....they chose a system that fits them...and succeed. they contribute to their charities and its laughible to see someone post that "they dont give back" or "why not stay at home". the mannings are local talent that made it to the national scene.

The thread is about "How great the Mannings Are" and once someone points out that they are not as great people make them out to be they get attacked.
you are being attacked for being a douche.
You're criticizing them for not giving more, or because others gave more? GFY.
Oh, Peyton Manning gave money to his alma mater after Katrina instead of giving it to La? Its his money, he earned it gets to decide what to do with the portion of it not confiscated by the government. Just because you don't approve does not mean he is a bad person, its just makes you a douche.
How much did Reggie Bush give to Calf (where he grew up) after the most recent fires?

Archie was so much more athletic than either Peyton or Eli. He was more like a Steve Young
Archie was also a 1st round MLB draft also pick if I'm not mistaken...

(born in '71). Doesn't he hold some responsibilty for how bad the TEAM was?? And yes, I remember the defense being bad back then but I think the extent to which the Saints supposedly held him back is often overblown.
You were born in 71...Archie was drafted by the Saints in 71...How muche do you actually remember???

Just because I dont agree with anyone about the Mannings and voice my opinion doesnt make me a douche. I really dont care what anyone here thinks of me.
You are right about Peyton and his money, it was his choice and it was also his choice for his first public appearance after winning the Superbowl MVP was at a sweet 16 party for a bunch of spoiled kids. I just dont see any of the top QBs in the league doing that

I would say that I started watching in 1979. I definitely watched every game of the 1-15 year.

Archie was beat up every game. Not every other game, but every game.
The offense was Archie, nothing else, and he paid big time in crushing sacks every game.
I watched it. My family watched. I'm an LSU fan who hated Archie Manning when he was at Ole Miss and the start of his Saints career. But no Quarter Back should have taken the beating he did. Most of what happened to him is outlawed in the NFL today.
He was tossed like a rag doll every Sunday.
Peyton is probably the best QB ever in the history of the league, and Eli ain't no slouch either.
The character of that family is straight up in line with the word integrity. They have given back to the community, no matter where they lived.
The Mannings, regardless of their accolades in sports, are first class people.

hating on people for no or stupid reasons does make you a douche however.
The thread was about Archie Manning play as a QB. Think he is over rated by Saints fans that's fine, but you started with hate on the whole family.

I remember Archie's career well. He wasn't exactly NFL ready coming out of college because of the offense Ole Miss ran and if I remember correctly, he missed all or most of his second yr due to injury but developed very quickly into a good NFL QB. He was an accurate passer with good size and mobility, and a good understanding of the game
The Saints, under their original owner John Mecom Jr. '67-'85 were a very poorly run franchise and made some bad hires for coaches especially during Archie's early years. Then, in '76 they brought in Hank Stram, who probably prematurely got the axe after only 2 yrs '76-'77 , didn't have Archie in '76 as archie missed all of that season also but, Stram did draft some offensive talent to build around during his brief stay and in '78-'79, Archie was as good as any Qb in the league.
