At first I thought the only message sent to lil Hartley was the signing of Carney but now I see it as 'you just cost a guy his job. Next time its your job that will be lost.' Message sent. Message received?

This. If he doesn't get his act together AND we lose Arrington to another team, it's time to bring on Josh Jasper next year and tell Hartley to hit the road.

I don't get what all the fuss is about. He was our 6th receiver (the only one eligible for the practice squad, I think) and all he has proven thus far is that he looks good when playing against other backups in the preseason.

To me, when they signed Carney it seemed fairly obvious that it would be either Arrington or Humphrey (sp?) that got kicked to the curb.

But Humphrey gets signed and cut every other week, or at least it seems that way.

you don't throw away potentially great receivers, that's what all the frickin fuss is about! throw away a damn kicker because they are worth a dime a dozen and right now Hartley needs to get his shite together because the honeymoon is over!

True enough, maybe that just means that Strief aggravated his injury and they thought they might need another blocker at TE this week.

My point was just that I didn't see why everyone was freaking out about Arrington. I'd say chances are good that he gets through waivers, we forget as local fans that while we might have seen something in the preseason, most every other team has their own 6th or 7th round WR on their bench or practice squad that was picked by their GM and already knows their offense. So why, unless they have had tons of WR injuries, would they take our guy and cut one of their's?

Just because he's cut doesn't mean he's gone for good. If he clears waivers, he's practice squad eligible for the Saints. If he gets picked up, I don't know what the rules are for the claiming team as far as requiring them to keep Arrington active or whatever.

Arrington is buried on the depth chart and he wasn't going to see the field unless there were serious injuries. Relax everyone.

THIS!!

This board's love affair for Arrington has been just way out of hand.

You can remove the maybe. If he was close to potentially great he'd have a NFL catch by now.

I don't know why we just don't sign one competent kicker instead of holding on to two.

We did this for Anderson when he was going through a bad spell.

so I guess the great catches he made in the (NFL) albeit preseason doesn't count , right?

some of you guys amaze me, I hope Arrington does latch on with another team and start tearing it up over there, and don't say I told you so!

furthermore, receivers is or are an area like RB you need a lot of depth at because of injuries, Henderson goes down or Meachem, who the hell are you gonna put in then? Arrington who already knows the system would step right in and the Saints don't miss a beat! I guess they'll just bring in a nobody since some of you guys seem to think a "kicker" is worth more then a receiver! unbelievable!

oh, and I do believe he has made a "regular" season catch in his time there!

don't see any of that on here, I would say your perception is off, it's just called wise decision making that people are questioning! Is it wise to let a good receiver go knowing some of your receivers may or can go down during the regular season, all because a damn kicker can't get his shite together!

LOL.

He's not as good as Meach or Henderson. If he was, he'd get way more reps.

Therefore, there is zero evidence to support your claim.

Have you read the boards the past 2 or 3 seasons since we got him?

For some reason, a lot of people have had a ridiculous hard on for this guy and think he will be so good, and we're still waiting for him to just do something, anything, much less be good.

What evidence is there to support that he is a "good" WR???

And define a "good WR", because if AA is one, there there are probably over 100 "good WRs" in the NFL, lol.

WHOOOOOSSSSSHHH! went right over your head didn't it? that's not the point, mannn, if one of them goes down you are replacing them with a ready, capable WR that knows SP's system.

and I would not say the guy is not capable of being better than either because he has been hurt a lot in his tenure with the Saints. Some of you people amaze me with the shite you say, you forget it took Meachem almost 4 years to come around, Devery the same thing, and just when you think he has the hands problem down the "brickhands" syndrome comes back, Meachem, also. Arrington is a better catcher than both, I've seen him haul in difficult passes, but he doesn't have their speed, and he just happens to be in a difficult situation where he came to the Saints after these guys!

either your blind as a bat or just dumb, all you had to do is look at the guy in preseason games run his precise routes and catch passes when he played, the potential is there, no doubt about!

honestly, I get tired of these stupid arguments, the guy wouldn't have made the damn team if he didn't have potential. Hopefully for Arrington someone picks him up and he can finally showcase it!

there is no need to reply, anything you say will be just more foolishness!
