I think WR and OL are our biggest needs. Treadwell looks nice. What about Higgins from CSU? Or Fuller from Notre Dame?

It would be a hell of a smokescreen if he's really injured:
quote:

Drew Brees said his shoulder was bothering him after taking a bit hit early in the Saints' Week 2 loss to Tampa Bay.

"Maybe on a few throws," Brees said when asked if the shoulder was bothering him. "I want to say a few balls downfield didn't come out very well." Brees played the rest of the game, and there is no reason to expect he will miss any time with the injury moving forward. Brees will face a tough test against the Panthers Week 3.

From the linked article:
quote:

Brees said he feels fine physically going forward.

"It's the season," he said. "Everyone is dealing with something."

So he tore his rotator cuff and then played the rest of the game with that season-ending injury? Makes sense.

He played through an injury in 2010 as well.

It was again kept very hush-hush, but people on here knew it, similar to the oblique last year.

If this was true, one of the national guys would have broken the story already. Glazer, most likely, maybe Schefter.

Oh yeah, that explained the 22 interceptions. Didn't know about that one, granted I don't remember much about 2010 besides that Seattle game and us having a pretty good defense. Also, wasn't that the year Ivory rushed for like almost 800 yards?

There are degrees to rotator cuff injuries. I said his passes looked like they were from an injured qb, not a qb having a bad day.

We definitely had one of our better defenses in this modern era that year. Ivory rushed for 716 yards.

Drew played through an MCL sprain the whole season, but never acknowledged it until after the season was over.

At his age a torn rotator cuff could be career ending. I had to have two surgeries to finally repair mine. And you never get back to where you were previously.

He came back from a tear in his labrum which i believe is worse

But it wouldnt be good at his age. I'd have confident in today's doctors and procedures that he'd be back if true.

We generally find these things out pretty quickly. And it would probably be obvious.

Not necessarily. It would depend on the severity of the tear of the rotator cuff. Something was obviously wrong with Brees after being hit while in his throwing motion yesterday on the 2nd drive.

It took everything in him to make that last throw into the endzone from about the 35 yard line. That's an easy throw for a healthy Brees.

Also, there's a lot of torque placed on the elbow & shoulder to throw a ball overhanded with force. The chances are really high to have some sort of structural damage when you have your arm stopped completely in mid motion especially for someone who has had their shoulder totally reconstructed before.

quote:

The Bengals selected Cook with the fifth overall pick in the 1969 NFL draft and instantly fell in love with his arm, proclaiming him the starter and releasing their starting quarterback from the previous year. Paul Brown, the Hall of Famer who at the time was the Bengals’ head coach and general manager, said, “We believe this young man is the best quarterback prospect in the country.”

Cincinnati started that season 3-0 with Cook leading the way, but in the third win, over eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City, Cook suffered a serious shoulder injury. He played through the shoulder pain for much of the remainder of that season, but by the end of the year his shoulder was so badly damaged that he would miss the next three seasons, then return to play just one more game before retiring for good.

“I tore my rotator cuff and we didn’t know it at the time because we didn’t have the medical attention that you have today,” Cook recalled years later.

Amazingly, Cook led the league in passer rating, completion percentage, yards per attempt and yards per completion as a rookie playing through a torn rotator cuff. But by the time the season was over and doctors operated, there was little they could do. The relatively primitive surgical procedure used for such injuries in the 1960s required cutting through muscles, which only damaged Cook’s shoulder further.

Without Greg Cook tearing his rotator cuff there probably never is a west coast offense.

It's obvious he's injured. He even admitted his shoulder was hurting. What the injury is we'll find out soon enough.
