finding fault is one thing but when we're 8-0 and our best receiver gets criticized its ridiculous

they arent perfect. forgive me for not sucking colstons dick and pointing out a weakness. some people get so defensive when you arent all sunshine and rainbows. its a message board for discussion, praise, criticism. Its not like im coming on here bashing the guy and flaming.

its stupid the dude had one bad gamne and last year he was banged up

he had one bad game statistically, but hes had several bad games where hes dropped passes. and im wondering if his hands will ever be how they were in 06.

I think its a legitimate thread. And obviously this is teh saints board and he is a saints fan so hes talking about saints receivers. He also called colston a beast and was bringing up a reason for concern because if colston dropping balls down the stretch would not be good for the team.

right, ill go rewatch every game since he came back from injury last year and might a lowlight reel of all his drops. he has had more than his fair share over the past year.

and i agree he does make plays on the ball and makes some great catches he prob shouldnt make, but im just pointing out he drops some easy ones more than a guy like him should. especially when he makes such great plays sometimes.

its the inconsistency that frustrates me

The 2009 statistics on "drops" are hard to find, but it appears from a couple of sites that Colston is not among the leaders in "drops" this year, fwiw.

Well obviously. He plays on a team where the ball gets spread around enough so that he will never be among the leaders in drops. He doesnt get targeted enough.

Eta: And its not like im saying he is one of the worst in the NFl anyway

Terrible example. Henderson was no where near as good as colston. He was consistent in his drops.

Seriously? Im not talking about him having poor games. Go back and reread. Im talking about him having games in which hes had multiple drops that he should have caught. I say should have caught cuz he catches balls that are even more difficult to catch than the ones he drops. Just because you drop the ball doesnt mean you have a bad game.

No, you gormless twonk, the reason that he will never be among the leaders in drops is because he doesn't drop the ball as often as other WRs. Last year he was hurt, and this week it was an anomaly. It also turns out that he was playing with the flu.

His catch rate this season is 63% on 59 targets. BTW, Randy Moss and Donald Driver are also at 63%, while Larry Fitzgerald is at 64%. Just to give you some perspective. And yes, rate stats tell you more than counting stats do in cases like this, but that's another discussion.

Even with the sudden rash of drops, Brees went his way several times in the redzone, including on the one that eventually got challenged. If he had a problem with dropping the ball, as you insist, then that would not have happened.

The ONLY time that his Catch Rate fell below 60% was in 2008, which was his injury year. Then, it was 53%.

BTW, Catch Rate is: Number of catches Divided by number of time receiver is "targeted". "Targets" include passes that were thrown away and he's the nearest guy there, etc. So uncaught balls include inaccurate passes, drops, interceptions, and passes defensed.

No, he wasn't. Henderson caught the ball fairly well in 2006 and 2008. 2007, however, he couldn't catch a cold.

How the frick do you go on living with a selective memory that only focuses on the negative?

OK, moron.

Name another game this season where he had multiple drops on passes that should have been caught.

Recall that he had 4 this week, and since one list that I saw of the top drops stops at people with 5 drops all season...

Wait, maybe I shouldn't leave it as an elliptical for you, as you may not be able to figure it out.

So basically, if he had 4 last week, and the top droppers started at 5, then HE SHOULD BE AMONG THE LIST TO RECEIVERS WITH THE MOST DROPS THIS YEAR if your contention is correct (you claimed that he has had other games this season in which he had MULTIPLE DROPS OF PASSES THAT HE SHOULD HAVE CAUGHT).

Since he's not, then it's hard to say with a straight face that the guy has a problem catching the ball.
