I met the Daltons a couple weeks ago. I’m wearing my customary Saints hat. He stops. Asks how I think the team will do this year. I just give a wince and say (paraphrasing) QB situation is a worry.
He is very smart and a cool dude. He quickly chimes in that he is Andy Daltons dad. Thus slapping my foot away from my mouth. Had a nice chat for about a minute before they got pulled away by people who knew them. Nice people. But man the Dad is playing with fire. Every Saint fan has QB concerns. Primarily Winston of course. But it can fold into the back up. Asking random guys in a hat their opinion is a recipe for awkward conversations. I’m not a dick. So I wouldn’t shite on his son, but catch the right “Baw” with a couple drinks in him ????
CSB. Cool people. I wish Ole’ Andy well if he gets into the starting job. I wanted to ask if they/he knew Payton was going and how that weighed in? But he had moved on.

I hope you are right but I am still worried about his knee.

Here we go; I was waiting for the race bait. We cannot criticize Jameis.

winston is gonna have a career year. our roster is loaded. will really help our oline and running game with our 3 headed monster at wr.
ditto for our secondary and dline.

but if he reverts to same old JW from Tampa ,it will be time to cut bait!
Can you define what is the "same old JW"? The guy that that averaged 261 yds a game, 1.5TDs, and 1 Int a game his first 4 years in TB. Or, do we just assume his 319 yards, 2TDs & 1.9 INTs per game in his final season is the defacto "same old JW"?
For all of those that want to discount what he did at the beginning of the year before he was injured in NOLA because it was 6-7 games; really want to hang their hat on that 1 season with a completely different style of offense to define who he will be

The jury is still out on whether Jameis can lead us there, but he definitely has the team around him. Last season wasn’t enough data to really say either way, plus coming off the injury now. It’s tough to say right now, though he was still pretty decent with handcuffs on and no WRs last season so there’s reason for optimism.
People forget just how good that Florida State team was with him. They had the most points ever until LSU broke that record in 2019 (against better competition I might add). Still though, that FSU offense was legit. With talent and good coaching, Jameis just needs to get it between the ears and he could be stellar.
He showed some maturity last season and has all he needs to be successful now in Nola, so this season will tell us all we need to know

we also shouldn't forget we have a solid backup at qb this time around. i'm interested to see how hill performs as a te, he'll be the fastest te in the league. not sure what to expect from him. thomas, olave, landry, kamara and hill on the field at the same time seems ridiculous.
