Sean Payton is:

An average head coach

A very good offensive designer

A good playcaller who sometimes calls boneheaded plays that are too gimmicky

The worst coach in the league at challenging calls

In need of a top notch defensive coordinator who can cut 6 points a game allowed.

I'd give him two more years to see if he can bring it to the next level.

I think Sean Payton can be a good HC if he hired a OC and let the OC call the plays with his tutoring. Then get a DC to run that side of the ball that is worth a shite. Gibbs was at Lsu in 2001 and sucked then too.

If you remember Sean Payton was the OC with the Giants when Fossel pleged to make the playoffs and stripped the OC of play call duties

No, he has no time management and doesn't know that you need run the ball to set up the pass, and to control the clock.

Yes. This would be a resounding yes had he at least made the playoffs one of the two years after the trip to the NFC Championship.

But is he any better than Haslett??

I certainly haven't seen anything to separate the 2.
