Lots of people saying Vick isn't a good QB.

quote:

Vick led the Falcons to the playoffs twice, including the conference championship game in January 2005, and ranks third among quarterbacks all-time in career rushing yards.

No matter how you look at it, no one is looking for Vick as the starting QB right now. He is a backup QB at best. Our backup QB's if given the chance will/can cost us the season is Brees goes down. Vick would still give us a chance.

The fact that people are starting countless threads suggesting that we pick up this guy makes me wonder if the majority of you guys graduated from Miami. If you think Vick was a cancer in Atlanta, just think how he would react to being a backup for the rest of his career in New Orleans.

That's my only worry. We already have one huge douchebag/frickstick in Shockey.

Vick would immediately let Shockey feel a sort of comfort level with his position on the team, in that he'd no longer be the dude that EVERYBODY has an eye on and holds accountable. Kind of like the dumb kid in class when a new dumber kid moves in.

During the OTA's Bobby said that Harrington looked awful.
Maybe.

Of course Bobby also preached about the defensive improvement in training camp last year. I take everything Bobby, Hokie, and Deke say with a shovel of salt.

Exactly. Drew Brees led us to the conference championship game and half of New Orleans would let him frick their wives.

Vick did the same thing 2 years earlier but he's "not a true QB."

we already have more options than we know what do with.

I doubt he'd come here for this role, but imagine Bush as the single back, WR Colston, Henderson, and Vick with Shockey at the TE. You get the D to shift to the smaller dime package and you get them to spread out, then you just do the Run and Shoot.

The defense did improve last year and outplayed the offense during the last 6 games IMHO. It was the choking like a bitch offense's fault that we missed the playoffs, but that's a whole other conversation that we've had already.

I don't get this line of thinking - that Vick has somehow completely lost his World-class athleticism and natural instincts simply because he was in prison for 18 months?

Maybe not, but he cannot step onto a field right now and do it. If he would dedicate himself to getting back into football shape, then maybe he can do the things he used to do. But there is no way he can hit a field today and be Vick from 2006 season.

Brunnel played well in spots for Washington 2 years ago. While not a solid back up by any stretch he's an improvement over Tyler Palko.

He's 38 now. And what does Palko have to do with anything?

quote:

I can't honestly agree with this. I have no idea what Harrington really is yet. This kid has played on bad teams his whole career. I'd like to see what he could do in a good situation.

i like him over Brunell, but he is no Vick

quote:

He was able to do this in ATL before he spent 23 months in prison. Vick being able to do that now is no certainty. It's also asking a lot for 52 other players to put their faith in.

he is a freak. He isnt old. He is working out as we speak, and will have time to get in shape before he would even be able to play.

and 52 players are going to put their faith in Brunell or Harrington?

lol

He should have kept his mouth closed on that subject IMO. If he wants to go to the front office and tell them that in private than he should knock himself out. I could give a shite if you like it or he likes it, I think the dude is a douche, could care less who he plays for.

Ok

Youre free to silently protest his TDs this season

I think it's sad that many in this thread would sell their fricking soul just to see the Saints win.

Vick wasn't a cancer in Atlanta.

And if you had to deal with Falcons fans, you'd flip them off, too. Blee dat.

I hope the dude drops every pass thrown his way. I don't live for the Saints or Hornets or LSU, sadly some folks do

That he was given something that very few people have and he completely wasted it. It's not just the dogs, or the passin of VD to every woman in the ATL or that he can't complete 60% of his passes It's how he lied to everyone and took what I consider a privilege for granted. He deserves a second chance at life, that doesn't mean he deserves a second chance at the NFL though.

Would his age matter if he can still play? Bellicheck brought in 87 year old Testeverde last year to back up Cassel.

No, he's not Vick. There's a chance he might hit a receiver from time to time.

There is no possible way spending 23 years in a box doesn't have an effect on his physical ablilities.

Sean Payton has. If he weren't satisfied with his QB backups he would've addressed them in the offseason. I guess he's satisfied with his RB and QB personnel.

No - when Jake Delhomme leads 5 game-winning drives in a single season and Drew Brees leads 0 (with the same number of opportunities as Delhomme BTW) than the offense has to shoulder some of the blame.

The offense was stoned with the game on the line in Washington, in Denver, v's Minnesota, at Tampa, at Chicago.

All we needed was a FG in each of those games (or a 1st down in Washington).
