So a guy who has had the playbook for a couple of weeks is better prepared than the guy who has been here the entire rookie, training, and whatever other camp we held. In addition to 17 weeks of weekly practice and film study. This sounds like we got a bust, last time some shite like this happened it was last year, SJB.

Jacksonville has the 25th worst pass defense in the NFL. What the frick are you talking about, he'd be killed? If Grayson can't do something against them, he needs to be out of the league. The kid has been playing football for years, he needs to get acclimated sooner or later and the games are already pointless. Give him a shot, we all know the team is bad, but I'd rather put Grayson against some real competition instead of off-season.

heard demand such a moniker. If the Saints FO called him that well and good. If just you then well and bad.

The FO has not specifically come out and said this, but who would?

He mentions it in his rookie confessional video that you can find on the official team website. He knew he was a project and he wanted to go to a team where he could learn how to properly prepare from a HOF QB like Drew.

Flynn is a horrible QB and has been his whole career except for 1 game against New England when he hoodwinked the entire league and got his payday from Seattle.

Oh, really?

That game was against the Lions. Clearly you're very knowledgable.

But if you are telling me that it means nothing that Flynn was picked up mid season and then instantly inserted into the backup role then you are delusional. I'm afraid it's looking like another wasted high rd pk the Saints had no business making due to all the holes they needed to fill.

Unless they wanted to avoid future QB hell by developing a guy to become the starter after Brees is gone. Which was clearly the plan. Keyword: develop. Not there yet.

quote:

Hell, Ryan Griffin started a few games at the end of the season and was serviceable.

Ryan Griffin has never started a regular season game. Showing your knowledge again.

It is clear you have no idea what you're talking about.

I'd have no problem if they treated it like a preseason game and gave Grayson a quarter or two to play.

How good was Grayson in college compared to the higher drafted QBs over last few years? I never watched him, did he ever play tough competition, strong arm, accurate, smart, quick release, any of that?

He showed a lot of those traits, but mostly against weak competition in the mountain west. Their offense is kinda similar to ours so I think it gave them a good preview of what he would potentially be able to do.

Physically he is average, although his arm isn't small. He's a tad taller than Drew but has a similar frame. He throws similar to Drew in that he gets most of his velocity from his feet which makes up for his medium arm.

The way he actually throws the ball is nice. He's able to put just the right amount of touch on deep balls, just the right amount of air underneath to drop it in the basket. He can throw with anticipation too. The main problems I saw with him, which most professional scouting reports seem to agree with, is just that he sometimes is questionable in his decision making and on a lot of plays he gets rushed and won't stop to see the field. Definitely something Drew and Sean should be able to help him with. Would be a disaster behind this OL right now though unless he's been busting his arse behind closed doors.

I forgot about the Detroit game. He def jumped on everyones radar after that New England performance though. So two great games for his career. Not sure why I thought Ryan Griffin started a couple games at the end of the yr before. Guess i was thinking preseason. Anyway their is no excuse why he shouldn't be playing ahead of Matt Flynn for these final two games.

Y'all declare people busts no matter what(look at peat at his first 3 days of camp and cooks this year)

This board will have 100 threads talking about how shitty the pick was at the first mistake.

I guarantee it and that's what scares me.

I think it's been openly agreed on that it was a shitty pick just because taking a QB in the 3rd round when we have so many other problems on our roster was egregious. But is Grayson a shitty player? That remains to be seen.

Career 17 TD 11 INT 2541 yards 85.9 QBR

A couple of great games and a whole lot of mop up duty. He has been a pedestrian QB at worst. By no measure has he been a horrible QB his whole career or any part of his career. So you either have no idea what you're talking about, you have an agenda, or you're completely biased.

You give him too much credit. His only option is he has no idea what he is talking about. He is nothing but a babbling fool.

Whoever is the backup should play.
Do we intend on keeping Flynn for a few years? I hope so. If so, let him play both the final games with Grayson continuing to learn and hopefully get a few plays, too.
This organization needs to begin preparing for life without Drew.

you are the one who needs to google. Tell me one thing Matt Flynn has accomplished on the field in the NFL

Well he holds the Packers single game passing record set against Detroit. So I guess he had at least 2 good games

Look at how many top rookie QBs look bad because they play early.

I agree with most of what you said, except for this.

I don't think shitty QBs that play early have shitty careers BECAUSE they play early. I've never understood to argument that early playing time hinders long term development.

Is Grayson "ready" in the sense that he could win us a game? Most likely not. But will playing him these last two weeks make him a worse QB in the long term? Most likely not.

If Brees is the starter anyone drafted would be by definition a project, because no rookie is beating out Brees in the immediate future. The fact he defines himself as a project has more to do with our starter than his abilities IMHO.
