WTF does that prove? The NFL broadcasters just started mentioning it regularly last year. I'd never heard it before then. BTW, the nickname Matty "Ice" was first tossed around for Don Mattingly in the 80's.

It proves what my first post said...that he didn't get the nickname as a result of anything in the NFL. His friends in high school called him that, which parlayed to BC where it really took off.

No they didn't. It has been talked about ever since the Falcons drafted him. Just because you'd never heard it doesn't make you any less wrong, just uninformed.

That really is of no interest or use to me, but thanks I guess.

Agreed. Grown men should not go by Matty.

That doesn't really matter to me. It wasn't mentioned in the NFL that much until this year were he proceeded to show that he was every bit the opposite of "Ice."

They never called him that before this year because the Failcons were dog shite.

1) You're right. I'm more a fan of the SEC.

2) We were never talking about college football. It was rarely if ever mentioned his first two years.

If you ever watched him on tv when he was in college, you would have heard it mentioned plenty as well. But unfortunately, some people just will continue to argue even when they're wrong. :sigh:

I remember when Hartley missed the FG in NO I told my buddy "Well, I guess that means ya'll lose after Christmas."

Wait.... You are buddies with a Falcons fan?

I remember his game against VT in '07 and that's about it. His first two years in the NFL it was RARELY mentioned. Then last year that shite started popping up everywhere until the iceman melted in the playoffs. What he needs to be worried about is his stupid arse ownership selling out the draft for Julio rather than try to build a defense that can actually stop someone.

"Matty Ice" couldn't hold Drew Brees' jockstrap.

It was mentioned if you watched Falcons games other than when they played the Saints.

Sounds like Saints prior to 2007, which they did with smart FA moves not the draft. So it is possibly to turn it around quickly.

Just asked a random girl I work with if she knew who Matt Ryan was, she was clueless, as she doesn't watch a lot of football. So I said " you know, Matty ice," to which she immediately responds " oh, Atlanta's quarterback?"
