What's so different about these receivers that you claim that Meachem is more suited for this offense?

After all the press coverage touting Meach and his teammates saying he was going to have a good year, it was great to watch him shine last night.

I felt good for the guy knowing he wanted badly to redeem himself and has reportedly worked damn hard in the offseason. He has the right attitude and looked more physical/tough than I expected.

It's gonna be a really fun year to watch the O if Brees stays healthy and we can get a running game.

i dont really see meach excelling in a particular area so much more than bowe to where one could make an argument that he fits a certain system better.

in order words, anything meach can do dwayne can do as well.

please explain how they're similar?

Bowe is obviously a more physical receiver when he wants to be. More of a possession guy

Meachem is a legit 4.3 guy with more big play ability and better hands

Meach is probably more likely to pull a hamstring. Did no one else notice that he pulled up a bit on the TD run?

I had visions of Dante "wound too tightly" Stallworth.

When he breaks to the outside, he pulls up slightly and somehow the last guy misses the tackle...then he just coasted into the endzone. But then he was kinda pushing his teammates away on the celebration and didn't look real comfortable. Maybe I'm just overanalyzing but I did get a bit concerned.

They're black guys.

I agree that Bowe is physical. That doesn't mean that he can't go down the sideline and make catches downfield like Meachem can (in his lone preseason appearance).

How many big plays did Bowe make in an LSU uniform? I'll save you some time and say a lot.

Look, I don't want to fight you on this, but it's insane to say that Bowe doesn't fit with the Saints. Bowe would fit in ANY NFL OFFENSE because he can be that good. I'm just happy Meach had a great opener last night. I'm even more happy with his composure and how he's owned up to making it with the Saints in the NFL. I'm really pulling for him.

Bowe:
quote:

Dwayne Bowe compares to a WR in New York. "Well, I’d probably have to say someone like Plaxico Burress," Croyle said Thursday. "(Bowe) is big and physical and comes down with the ball. He's not like a Randy Moss or a guy who can just burn by you. But if you throw it up to him, he's going to come down with it." Croyle said a bond forming between him and Bowe.

Meacham:
quote:

His speed and arm extension are his best qualities,
quote:

Can threaten the deep secondary immediately, especially vs. off coverage, and has no problems getting a clean release vs. the jam … Has the breakaway speed and loose hips to separate and elude
LINK

One is a physical guy with some speed while the other is a speed guy with some physical ability.

With that said, Bowe is a fit anywhere but Meacham is a need for this team because of Devrey's inconsistancy.

So, what you're saying is is that Bowe and Meachem fit well into the Saints offense?

That's kinda what I was getting at with BigJ.

Not exactly what I was saying. My point was that their skillsets are different and that Meacham's type of skills are needed more on this team.

But i'm sure that Bowe would be good on any team.

But by saying this...up there in the quote...you are saying that both Meachem and Bowe fit very well into the Saints team. Bowe can go deep and can also punch people in the head on short passes.

Meachem can go deep and bounce off a few tackles himself.
