I've heard that Drew and wife Brittany had a baby boy on Thursday but I don't know the details. I'm still asking around about it, but technically it's not a team-related matter so the club will probably want to honor Brees' privacy. Coincidentally, Saints community relations director Nick Karl and his wife Ellen were in the same labor and delivery rooms with the Breeses. Nick and Ellen are the proud parents of twins: Owen Cooper and Nora Katherine. Mother and babies are doing well. Congratulations to the Karls.

Missing the playoffs again surely was tough for Brees, but the past month also has been rewarding for him. On Jan.¤15, his 30th birthday, Brees welcomed his first child, son Baylen Robert Brees.
"He's awesome," Brees said. "He's a champ. He's doing well. Every day is a new day. It's an adventure, because it just seems like each day he does something different, whether he becomes more alert or just stays awake longer or starts doing more with his hands and his arms and legs. It being a first child, it's awesome."
Brees' wife, Brittany, and Baylen are both planning to travel to Hawaii to join Brees for the Pro Bowl on Feb. 8.
Brees joked Wednesday that he and his son will not "be running laps together on the beach or anything," but Baylen perhaps already has shown a love for the game that his father plays.
"He's got this Teddy Bear that's got a football attached to the arm," Brees said. "It was funny, because actually the first time I gave him the Teddy Bear, the first thing he grabbed was the football. So maybe that's a sign."
