5th round pick AND more cap room to play with for a guy that the team has already announced that they're going to release?

Bye.

Honestly, a fifth round pick is good considering it's a one year deal with a guy who was about to be released.

I don't know where you people come from, but the guy has just produce since he's got here, and you all sound really stupid.

Really? How many kick returns past the 40 in the last two years since they essentially eliminated the play?

Yeah I'm not sure where all the "this guy sucks now" is coming from. The only aspect of his game that has slacked off is the return part honestly. He will still be a very productive screen and receiving threat.

I'm starting to wonder if we chose the Iggles to sort of throw Sproles a bone to not send him to a black hole.

It's coming from his lack of production last season and for some of 2012. He was phenomenal in 2011, then slacked off greatly in 2012, although still productive. Last year he was worthless. He isn't terrible, but way overrated

He's produced every year he's been here. Is he crap now because he hasn't broken the NFL all purpose yard record every year?

I have not understood the overhyped love for Sproles over the last year or so. The wind can knock him down. He's a one trick pony and that trick isn't even that great anymore. I'm pretty stunned there's been a lot of interest reported for sproles. Great for the Saints though. Just makes you wonder how much game film is being watched out there.

Agree he produced when he got here. But that production fell off tremendously over the last year+. Saints are doing the right thing here.

I'd love to know how many tackles he broke last season, and how many plays he made on his own when nothing was really there. I would bet almost none. He needs space, and by space I mean a wide open lane. He's a speed guy who has lost a couple steps, and is easily tackled by corner backs.

McCoy will be out of the NFL in 3 years if they don't get him some relief. Chip ran him in the ground last year. He will get 450 touches and he will fall off the cliff QUICKLY at the rate he's going.

Sproles at least gives them a similar package and might take 100 touches away from Shady, which should put him right where he needs to be.

Anyone pointing to any kind of "decrease in production in 2012" to any single player is completely off base. That year might as well be completely be erased in regards to player evaluation on either side of the ball.

Sproles was absolutely a weapon last year for us.

Sproles isn't much of a runner anymore.

He's better at receiving.

Notice how his all purpose yards are shite now that 100 percent of the kickoffs are 8 yards into the end zone?

Sproles could still be a force in this offense. Good luck to him.

Yep and at 5'6" it's hard to be a really consistent receiver in the NFL, especially when he's almost no threat as a runner now.

Sure he has, he was great for us but this is a business model, we used him up and spit him out on his decline..........

I'm mad because fanboys fall in love with a player, I don't fall in love with em. He served his purpose, I appreciate that.....But yall can't say that he is a SMALL, AGING RUNNING BACK with a particular set of skills that can be utilized by a variety of players in our system.
