While I love Brees, the system we play dictates his big numbers. He's the perfect fit for it, but the thing is that this type of system by nature hurts your team as it forces you to become one dimensional much of the time, and in turn hurts your defense, which is the last thing we can afford with Gibbs as DC.

I don't think Drew Brees is the worst clutch QB in the league. Brees is a very good player. But he is not an elite, MVP type player. Brees piles up a lot of stats against bad defenses because of the style of offense that Payton runs. However, if the Saints play a good, tough defense, Brees typically does not play well. It's certainly not all his fault, but when you have a elite type QB, they can take a team on their shoulders and win tough games. I just have not seen Brees do that.

I'll grant you that 1-17 is pretty bad. How many times has the defense given up the laed to cause the loss. how many times has a kicker missed a potential winning or tying field goal? this is not all on Brees.

I never said that Brees was the worst part of this team. I think everyone knows that the defense is. My point was that Drew Brees has a part of the team not finishing games with a W.
If he didn't throw a pick inside the 10, we could've at least got a field goal. In that case....no OT

He's top 5, at worst, top 3 pretty easily, IMO.
Other than Brady and Manning, no one has come close to matching Brees production the last couple of seasons.
