re: Quote from the losing QB

Anyone who thinks Brees or the Saints don't think they're better than Seattle is kidding themselves.
This has nothing to do with thinking it. Of course you want your team to think they are better than everyone else.
It's another to say publicly that you are the better team when you just got your arse handed to you on Sunday night.

Does it hurt the Panthers in any way?
It's irrelevant, so it doesn't matter if he says it or not.
Why would you want players to NOT be honest about stuff, especially when it harms nothing?

Well, if he was being honest, he would see that his team just got bitch slapped and he'd be a bit more humble.

No one can really tell me why. He, just like Brees/Seahawks, thinks his team is better, why not say it? There's no harm.

It makes him look stupid is why. Oh, but it's Cam. Never mind.
Posted on 12/9/13 at 9:30 am to liquid rabbit
I don't see it as being a terrible quote. He believes his team is better (which anybody would) but not today.

It makes him look stupid is why.
What kind of logic is that?

Imagine Drew Brees, post-Seahawks game, saying, "They won today but we're better."
He would never say something like that because he actually has sense.

No one said it makes him look smart to think it. It was said that it's good to think it cause if you go into a game thinking you suck you will probably suck.
But to get stomped and say "oh we're the better team", it's sore loser type crap. "Yeah I know they just beat the frick out of us, but we're still definitely the better team!" Sounds dumb.

I can guarantee if he did say that, he would get the exact opposite reactions on this board.
Everyone would rave about his passion, heart, and determination and how he wouldn't let even this blowout stop him from seeing the goal at the end of the season, blah blah blah.

But he never would. Brees knows how to act humble when he's been humbled. Cam doesn't.

If it sounds dumb to say, then it is dumb to say or think, it can be 1 of the 2, either it's a dumb thought to say AND think or it isn't.

No matter what Cam says, you folks will find a way to whine about it.
That's the point.

Why
It shows a lack of humility
It sounds petty coming moments after you get your arse handed to you
Cam has other maturity concerns

I think the only people taking offense to this are people who already hate Newton, generally speaking.
For those who either like him or are indifferent, the comment was harmless.
Again, that's my point.

Faulty logic.

Harmless, maybe. Stupid, most certainly. I don't care if Peyton Manning said it. After such a beatdown, it's a stupid statement.

It is not a matter of who is better. It is a matter of who plays better. It's a matter of who shows up. I think with all things being equal, the Saints are the best team in the NFL. With that being said, will still lost to two teams we should have beaten. Any given Sunday, Monday and now, Thursday you will either win, loose, and on some occasions tie. What Cam said is really a non factor. That was Cam trying to be something that he's not. He's still too young and immature to speak intelligently in a press conference or anywhere. If he were a true leader he would have acknowledged all of open receivers he missed, and stepping up in the pocket instead of stepping back into a sack. He was standing on the sidelines watching in amazement how Brees managed that offense last night. A true professional QB sits down with his coordinator to go over plays and scenarios, but he's like a kid who could help but watch a great QB work. It's not often he gets the chance to see one up close. Rivera, their coach was a sore looser too. Instead of taking the azz whooping, and giving credit where credit is due and just moving on, even he, acted like pouting punk. It was either extreme arrogance, or just plain stupid to think they even had a shot in the Thunder Dome. If the weather holds up, if they're not careful we might just wrap that azz up and hand it to them as an early Christmas Present. WHO DAT!!!!

quote:If you're admitting it's harmless to say and also admitting it's ok to think it, logic would dictate it would be harmless and ok to say it out loud.
Harmless, maybe. Stupid, most certainly
I have no clue what you're doing with the logic trail on this one.
Ok to think it + Harmless to say it = Stupid to say it?

quote:Can you say with 100% certainty that he did not say any of those things are take any blame whatsoever?

quote:So it is your opinion that his coordinators want to coach him up, and he's just not listening? Also, what do you with the fact that I see Brees plenty of times standing on the sidelines watching and not working with his coordinators? Is he demonstrating poor leadership when he does it? Or is there an excuse that makes it ok for him to do the same exact thing?
