So I finally got to a computer where I could mess with some numbers. This is just an estimate since we don't have Banjo or Ginn's actual numbers, but we'll likely be between $17-17.5 mil under given Banjo gets $1 mil this year and Ginn $1.5 mil (not unreasonable given Fairley is only $3 mil this year).

But it's hard to judge Ginn's contract without even knowing the years. So adjust my guesstimate accordingly when we get actual numbers.

This should be with all transactions counting. It doesn't include the extra $4.6 mil we get on June 1st for Byrd (though as I said before that's basically spent anyway, but the $17 mil we have now doesn't need to go to picks and stuff, just FAs).

Ginn

Ginn- $3 mil first year hit

So that puts us around $15.5-$15.8 mil in space.

Underhill just said we should have around $12-11 mil.

But we could create some space if we fooled around with Armstead's contract a little.

He's still not counting the $3.2 mil from Byrd and perhaps not the $1.5 mil from Cooks.

You can tell he's doing it from hand and not source because of the range.

Saints also tendered ERFA Brandon Coleman for $615,000. I think that's the only transaction not in the OP.

Has anybody heard anything about trade talks for Butler since he visited? Haven't heard anything for a few days so I'm curious if anybody's heard anything. Thanks in advance.

Could turn out to be a steal.
What I've been thinking. Could be a Stupar-like steal but x10. Guy is a top 15-20 backer in the league.

Didn't see this info listed:

Saints' Travaris Cadet: Only gets $80k signing bonus

by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cadet only received an $80,000 signing bonus on his one-year contract with the Saints, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The contract suggests Cadet may ultimately have to fight for a roster spot, though he looks like a lock when merely taking the current composition of the team into account. If the Saints do improve their backfield through the upcoming draft, Cadet might be left to compete with 2016 seventh-rounder Daniel Lasco and 2015 seventh-rounder Marcus Murphy for only one or two roster spots. Cadet does have a veteran's minimum cap benefit contract working in his favor -- which means part of his salary won't count against the Saints' cap space. Furthermore, the 28-year-old has a track record serving as a useful pass catcher for Drew Brees.

Whoever is reporting that doesn't fully understand how vet minimum contracts work.

$80k is the max allowed bonus for a contract to still count as vet minimum. Him getting the max actually says we had to "outbid" another team or two by giving him a bonus at all. Most vet minimum guys don't get a bonus.

Why do Coleman and Cadet continuously make this squad. Unbelievable.

I have been out of the loop for a few months...last time I was around Atlanta just choked away a Super Bowl.

I love the resigning of Fairley and bringing in Warford.

I like adding Klein, Teo, and Okafor as potential starters or quality rotation pieces.

Not sure about the Cooks trade...I get we needed picks but I love what he brought to the offense. I will wait and see how the draft unfolds before I knock the move. It has potential but is risky as hell.

Overall solid offseason so far but our draft will make or break our entire season.

Glad this had a sticky. I had forgot about Klien. Makes LB a day 2 priority, not day 1
