Other coaches have done the commute. It's fine. If he leaves we can get a great coach as long as we have brees. Brees is better now than he was at San Diego. Part of that was payton the other part was his desire to succeed. Thar desire will never leave drew. IMO drew doesn't need Payton anymore. Yes his offense made drew. But now drew has become a coach himself.

What does "lame duck" mean for an NFL coach? He won't be able to recruit? Players drafted will sit out a year instead of comig tothe Saints Organization? He can't get an extension of his contract? He operates with less cap money?

It means the fan base has regressed to the point they are calling each other stupid. Oh wait that's normal for those of limited vocabulary.

Sean P will play out 2011, assuming a CBA is in place and there is a NFL season.
Jerry Jones buys out the last year of Sean P's contract, making him the GM in Dallas. If Garrett fails, Sean P steps in as H.C.
The 1 constant since 1995 for the Cowboys has been Jerry Jones...he is the reason the team hasn't won anything since then. Jones FINALLY realizes this and hires Sean P to run the team and be the coach in case Garrett fails.
Greg Williams steps in to take Sean P's place in NOLA. He passed up opportunities in Denver and Tenn to be the 2012 H.C. of the Saints.
You don't have to believe me, just be ready to hear an "I told you so this time next year."
Rumor has it that Sean P, Dallas Cowboys Brass, and especially Jerry Jones were pal'ing around after the Senior Bowl in Mobile.

I think the term lame duck has to do with his wife not being around

Is it just me or has everyone drank the koolaid and have not heard the same thing i am hearing, What i am hearing when Payton opens his mouth about the move, "New Orleans is not good enough for my family to live here or for my kids to go to school here, but i will stay here and take the millions you are paying me to coach a team in a city I have no respect for... Does anyone else feel the same way, I know he won a superbowl for the Saints but hey he didnt get us back there and he damn sure didnt get the first one by himself, he had a little help with that...

I don't believe this is allowed in the NFL

why would a Superbowl winning coach want to put up with Jones' meddling?

Saints Report is getting as bad as the Rant. Everyone was predicting gloom and doom that Miles was leaving, that Crowton was staying, yada yada yada. Now this Payton crap.
Has Herbstreit taken over TD?

its not allowed, but don't let that get in the way of their argument

i just dont see a reason to worry. if he leaves in two years so be it.... its not like he is gonna tank the next two because he is leaving... he has pride and he wants to win. lets enjoy the next two years and then react. if payton leaves its fine... its a business. As long as we have Brees, who seems very happy with the region and city, we will be fine.
Brees has elevated his game. Do not think that Sean Payton is single handedly responsible for the success of Brees. Yes He was the one that brought Brees here, but Brees works hard. Any head coach with any semblance of a brain will realize that players like Manning/Brady/Brees are well equiped to run the offense. The head coach just has to be there for the final say but when they are on the field the QB is running the team.

If all this does infact work out this way, then I will definitely owe people an apology. but until then I'll be swimming in a river of denial.
