Get over yourselves a bit. I'm gonna bet my money on "he doesn't give a shite" either ways.

I think what we're seeing is nothing more than an influx of idiots or ignorant people

Most people with any idea of what's going on understand that the harsh punishment is a direct result of Payton & Co. trying to cover it up and not following the orders the first time around. Had they just complied, this wouldn't even be an issue. Had they not lied, the punishment would likely not be as harsh. But a lot of people in Louisiana are dumb. Like...really dumb.

yeah the poor me victim thing is getting old. We all went through the same crap the last few years living here but this consipracy theory thing is foolish. Payton fricked up, plan and simple. I do agree however, that the penalties leveed are way to harsh.

If it makes you feel any better they could have brought in an entire replacement team and I was still renewing my tickets.

I'm sick and tired of hearing people on TD saying this.
This is my goddamn state.
You don't have to live here.

I agree that Payton brought this on himself.
I agree that Goodell was right in putting a stop to the bounty system and to Payton's lying.
Payton needed to be corralled.
I also think less punishment would suffice.
I do think Goodell has wanted to nail Payton (not N.O.) for years, too.

But who gives a shite how the fans react?
They're the fans, not the team.
We're entitled to our own opinions.
Would you honestly prefer we turn our back on the only coach who brought us a superbowl?

/end rant

Obviously, some people miss the point the the NFL is encouraging this, has been encouraging this and will continue to encourage this sort of behavior.

All they are doing is trying to look good for current lawsuits. Over reacting is not neccessary.

If you still don't understand, I will try again.

1 The NFL requires teams to list injuries Thursday prior to the game. They have informed everyone including Congress it is not for gambling purposes - then it must be for helping the other team target individuals.

2 The NFL approved contracts allow for measurable feats - such as tackles or sacks, why because it is measurable. But in reality, it is still a bounty for the player that has the contract incentive.

Again, who is lying?

Thank you captain obvious. Everyone knows this. But all this considered, the punishment still doesn't fit the crime. Not by a long shot. That's all anybody is saying.

If this happened to the Falcons do you think the Falcons message board would be any different?

They would act like idiots and cry babies, unable to acknowledge the massive failure of their ownership and coaches....why does that excuse the saintard behavior?

Or allow teams to prepare accordingly....knowing QBA is out and your facing QBB is pretty important info.

No it's not - tackles and sacks are a part of the game - incentivizing a player to make more of them does not equal a specific bounty on a player where the goal is not just to obtain a sack, but to knock said specific player out of the game....If an NFL contract contained that type of incentive it would be illegal.

No that's not all that's being said. They are excusing it with the "everyone else was doing it", conspiracy BS, wild arguments that equate bounties to incentive laden player contracts....the post you responded to got it right....it's not obvious to everyone, though.

I support my team even if we were in the wrong. We will deal with any punishment and make it through.

If i had a son who got int trouble for something, if he was in the wrong i would still support him and want the best for him.

to me, Saints are like Family. That's my Team.

Goodell acts like a bitch about a lot. Not just this and louisiana, but for all the NFL.

If you acknowledge they did wrong and remain a fan that shouldn't be a problem. The problem comes in when "support" becomes denial of the wrong doing and excusing it away with fantastical bullshite.
