NFL network just said in a report the police aren't ready to talk to him yet

But I guess to answer your question truthfully, no, I'm not sure at all.

Something is fishy. If this is just for the police to get information out of him and he's not a suspect, it surely doesn't appear that way if they can't let a non-suspect give a statement or an interview before a big event like this.

That's bad. Very bad.
If he was truly a total non-suspect, they would talk to him immediately and try and get it out of the way to get some info, quick.
Sounds more like they are trying to build evidence for when they do meet with him.

Yup. It's been bad since the police leaked to the press that they were looking to speak with him. They wouldn't do this unless they have suspicions. Why blast someone that they believe to be innocent and severely harm his career? That never passed the smell test for me.

true, but I still think with an open bidding war for a first round talent his price would go high. teams will overpay for his potential. maybe not to Pre2011 standards but I believe above the current slotting pool
I don't see the NFL allowing that precedent to be set. It will effectively undo the Jamarcus rule the league was so adamant about getting into the new CBA.

Plus there's no reason why you can't do an initial interview and then do another one later if you decide you need more info.
I once witnessed an attempted murder and the detectives interviewed me on the spot, then again a week later, and then told me they might need to talk to me again at a later date. So I don't really understand this "we're not ready" thing.

They want to have all of their ducks in a row so they can catch him in lies. I can't imagine how this is a good thing.

best way to catch a guy in a lie is make him tell his story multiple times... even better if you can get him to tell his story the first time with no chance to prep.

BRPD has lost control of La'el Collins.

this is the most bizarre story I've seen in a while

Sorry guys. I emailed Chad & someone else this am. After seeing Chad's guilty until proven innocent take on the kid, I regretted my email. I think Lael is a good kid - never been in any trouble to my knowledge in HS or college. Why not give him the benefit of the doubt?
This is the 1st year I've had a source within the Saints - by Saturday I will know if he was straight w me. I have already posted what he said.

NFL rejected La'el Collins' request to be removed from draft until police complete murder investigation, per source. No supp draft for him.

IF he is innocent and I were him, I would sue the NFL for every dollar I would have made as a top 15 pick. Should he turn out innocent in all of this, he is going to lose millions of dollars because he was with someone months before they were murdered. If he's guilty, he wouldn't be entering the supplemental draft either, so where's the harm? As it stands now, his only shot at being drafted is if a team is willing to take on tons of bad publicity by drafting a guy who might have killed a pregnant woman. NFL is attempting to avoid helping out a guy that will soon be painted as guilty in the public eye. All about image.

Expected result based on CBA/potential precedent. Am told agents and player made impassioned case, though.
