Dont comment if you don't understand the situation - so tired of people saying brees can leave. He's essentially trapped here as long as we want him.

the Patriots went 11-5 without tom brady with matt cassells

The Colts went 2-14 without Payton Manning.

Who is worth more? What is our record if we lost Drew for a Year?

That proves my point about how Manning's contract hamstrung the colts whereas Brady's contract allowed the Pats to remain a super bowl team 5 years after his injury.

Jesus - tom Brady has signed 2 contracts while being considered the best QB in the league and both times he signed relatively modest deals that were cap friendly.

and his wife makes more money than him. He also has much more endorsements.

1. It is inarguable that this IS the most important player negotiation in Saints history.

2.Benson has proven time and again he is fair, proactive, and anything but cheap with his players who perform.

This is only true since the salery cap was put in place. Before that he tried on the cheap.

I think I've been very publicly "pro Saints" in their negotiation with Drew Brees and Tom Condon, but I've never really articulated why to the extent that I'd like.

Whew. Now I can start my week...thanks!

I totally agree with you and I have certainly been in the minority on this with my friends. I think the agent is to blame here. And then Brees because he has the power to tell his agent to sign the deal or get the f out.

Don't you know you're supposed to dismiss my thoughts with a sarcastic GIF because I'm not part of the circle jerk clique here?

You get what you pay for. And you have to pay for good QB play.

We cut corners in other areas. Because Drew brees is so good we can get away with having a guy like Bushrod play LT even though eh is brutalized by any good DE. Cause Drew Brees is so good int he pocket.

Drew Brees elevates the player around him. Tom Brady is only as good as his number one WR. 17/39 tds to Gronk last year. 23/50 to Randy Moss when he broke the record. When his number 1 is anything less you get 28, 26 td years. Those just aren't elite numbers anymore.
