Which is why Taylor Mays is NOT the pick.

If you want a cover safety, I'd take Derek Pegues in the second or third round.

If we don't trade it down for multiple picks, which may happen seeing as how we have like 2 picks in the entire fckin draft, I say we pick:

Malcolm Jenkins CB- Shut-down corner opposite Porter for the long haul, can learn under Mckenzie for the time being.

Vontae Davis CB- Will probably put up better numbers than Jenkins, though he is not as proven.

Taylor Mays S- Say what you will, this kid is a play maker.

William Moore S- He is 6-1 220-230 runs a 4.45-4.49 and has 79 tackles(5.5 for loss), 2 FF, 5 PBU, and 1 INT(Ret for TD) this season. He has played SS the majority of his career though.

Ray Maualuga LB- We have Vilma, we will resign Vilma, depending on the new DC's scheme (God I hope Gibbs gets canned) I don't know if this is the smartest pick. Another playmaker though.

Trevard Lindley CB- He is a reach as high as we will pick but this kid is fast as lightning and he is a ball hawk, oh yeah, at 6-0 he is just a bit taller than the 5-0 Jason David.

Eugene Monroe OT- We could use A dominant tackle on our O-line because Stinchcomb and Brown just don't make anyone feel safe. Although Zach Strief has played lights out when his number has been called.

Brian Cushing LB- He is a linebacker...need i say more? I don't watch much USC ball but from what I have watched, Cushing has been a monster. The question is, is he fast enough? He is white, so we will just have to wait until pro day and combine times are released.

Aaron Curry LB- One of the hardest hitters in college football, he is shooting up draft boards and has a projected 40 time of 4.62 (Unfckingreal). He has 95 tackles(14 TFL), 2.5 Sacks, 1 INT, and 2FF. This guy is a BEAST!

Obviously someone like Michael Oher OT, Andre Smith OT, Michael Crabtree WR, Beanie Wells RB, Knowshon Moreno RB, etc.. would be huge upgrades at their positions but we didn't lose enough games to pick any of these guys up unless their combines are just flat-out shitty.

For what? Use a 1st round pick to sit the bench again?

At least draft someone that will play. Preferably the top safety in the draft. Then the top O-Lineman left after that.

Both great picks, but not a safety

We HAVE to get a safety. Easily the biggest position of need. UNLESS we move Mike McKenzie over to safety, which isn't a bad idea at this point. Especially if this Jason David person continues to play like he has the past 3-4 weeks. David and Porter would be solid, McKenzie is an automatic safety upgrade. Then we could get o line help.We don't need a RB, WR, or anyone other skill offensive player. Period. Especially RB, b/c Payton wouldn't give him the ball so it would be a waste.

Malcolm Jenkins is awesome. Yea, he has been hyped for quite a while, but for good reason. He has been locking down receivers for 2 years now at OSU.

However, Aaron Curry is my pick. Watch his highlight reel. He will bring a tenacity and swagger to our defense that we DESPERATELY need. Highlight Reel 1 The next week!!

There are no prototypical Free Safeties in this draft that are going to warrant a 1st round pick. Taylor Mays would be the best pick at Safety but we will not be able to get this kid. He is a stud though.

The only WR I've seen him lock down are slow BigTen WR. Anytime he's faced any half decent WR he gets abused. That's not really a lock down corner to me.

If you go back and watch his highlight reels, you will see his potential in the NFL. I agree with you on FS being our biggest need though, but like I said, I don't think we will be able to get Mays. I love Aaron Curry's game, and he would be the biggest contributor I can see us drafting. He would fill a need and has the potential to be our biggest impact player on defense. Him and Vilma would immediately give us one of the best LB corps in the NFC South.

1) Don't draft a RB in the first. Its a waste
2) Don't draft a MLB(Laurinaitis/Maualuga)
3) Draft a S, WLB(Curry), or OT.

Pick up a S or RB in the third. Try to get a S or RB and some CB depth in FA.

Also Moore is a better S against the pass than Mays

Why waste a draft pick on a RB that Payton's not gonna use. Every assclown that wants the Saints to draft a "power back" must've forgotten about Deuce. What happened to the days when you needed one starter and one backup. Now you need a power back, a homerun threat, a shifty back, and a 3rd down back or you have no running game.

The Saints need S/CB/DL help the most.

what receiver is coming out of tennessee?

You're getting ahead of yourself; we won't need another limp dick Vol receiver until the 2010 draft.
There is an unwritten rule passed by the NFL Rules Committee that the Saints have to have at least 1 exercycle Tennessee receiver on the roster at all times.

Don't you mean?

With the 11th pick, acquired in a trade from New Orleans, the New York Giants select <insert future NFL badass here>.
