In all seriousness, check out a place like Highland Plantation. Close to campus (the bus stops at the apartment complex/maybe a 5 minute ride) and 100 yds. from Wal-mart Neighborhood Market.

Best bet is for him to get a roommate...2brs rent for pretty much the same as 1brs in BR. No buddies of his at LSU?

Drive around the garden district and look for some garage apartments.

I lived in Beau Chenne from 2006-09 in a pretty nice sized 1 bedroom for 750. Lee Dr at Nicholson

Not much in that range. I've been in the market for a 1-bedroom for weeks. I'm trying to avoid being close to campus though. I'm ready to by on my own without a roommate too.
My advice is Place du Plantier or somewhere on Brightside.
They just redid PdP, so the interiors are in good shape and they do a good job with property management.
AVOID Highland Plantation. They are cheap, but scary.
Some places on Brightside are cheap. The traffic is awful that way, but if that doesn't matter to him, it's fine.

I think my 750 included utilities. Minus cable. Can't remember

No! He can't take my places. I've been doing this almost daily

Roommates are your best bet. Just get some decent ones. 750 won't go very far for a one bedroom.

Can't blame him there lol. I'm not one for roommates either, thankfully my little brother is moving in with me so I can handle that...otherwise, my favorite roommate is my dog

Don't read reviews. Reviews for apartments and hotels always suck. The freaking Ritz has people slamming them for a stain on the pillow
I used to read apartment reviews and I had to stop when they were out of control.
I will admit I personally prefer to avoid largely managed apartments (which is why I haven't pulled the trigger on PdP), but I've had friends there who were perfectly content.

Does it include utilities ?

I lived in a 1BR at Southgate Condominiums on Janet Ave. for 3 years. It was quiet, but you could still walk to the bars if you wanted to. Good management. Might be a little over that range by now, but probably close.

It doesn't say it includes them in the ad, and I feel like it would if it did

Pretty sure mine included at least water. Don't remember electrical
