Crocs and gators are cold blooded killing machines. They’ve been an apex predator for several hundred MILLION years. They will likely outlive us. They are entirely muscle and instinct and brute force and hiding just beneath the water.
Why do humans have a fear of what’s just beneath the water? Crocs. Our ape ancestors were terrorized by crocs and the instinct is still with us.

Crocs really are fascinating creatures.

I’m IP banned on Reddit for trolling on too many accounts but I still get to lurk. I follow a crocodile sub. It’s mostly videos of giant man eaters 16’ or longer in random arse countries in Southeast Asia. It’s hard to comprehend an animal that large that instinctively wants to kill you

Zero remorse. Just eat you. Stuff you under a rock. Eat you some more. Stuff. Eat.
Wash, rinse, repeat. This isn’t to feed their young in some circle of life meaningful death. This is a machine that wants to turn your rotting corpse into watery shite just because.
Ever read the story about the South African outdoorsman/author/special forces badass Hendrik Coetzee? He was taken by a croc in 2010. His company on the trip said the monster croc swam right up to his yak, one quick bite and this dude’s whole body disappeared in a second.
They don’t give a frick about your river selfie.
