He certainly seems like he does. I wasn't questioning him. I was just curious. He spits some things I don't quite understand.

The NOAA Aircraft typically are able to get more up close and personal with the storm. AF flights are based out of Biloxi, and NOAA AOC are based out of Tampa and AF flights are more common than NOAA
I know a guy who used to be in the AF Hurrican Hunters. During Hurricane season they deployed down to some island in the Caribbean to chase storms. But mostly they just partied.

Now a mandatory evac called for Hatteras Island beginning at 5:00 AM Thursday

Do we start referring to this as Superstorm Arthur before or after some heavy rains in the Northeast?

The Outer Banks are vulnerable. And it takes a long while to get to the mainland. Either a ferry or drive along a two lane road that parallels the coast for quite a distance.

This thing looks to be a pretty significant event for the Carolina coasts. When was the last time an A-name storm made US landfall as a hurricane? Andrew?

I'm looking at that big blob of storms in the Gulf. I hope that doesn't form into anything. If it does, I assume the front that just passed through would keep it out there.

Also, Andrea made landfall last year but only as a TS.

In Louisiana, Andrew produced hurricane force winds along its path, which left about 152,000 without electricity, downed 80% of trees in the Atchafalaya River Basin, and caused significant agricultural damage. Also in the Atchafalaya River Basin and Bayou Lafourche, about 187 million freshwater fish were killed. An F3 tornado in St. John the Baptist Parish damaged or destroyed 163 structures. Seventeen deaths were reported in Louisiana, six of which were drowning victims offshore. With 23,000 homes damaged, and 985 homes and 1,951 mobile homes destroyed, property losses in the state exceeded $1.5 billion.
What am I missing?
