Like I said, used to hand out the trophies ate the Junior League thing in the summer you were talking about. Met all kinds of crazies with too much time and too much money.
On a side note, I like sports with defined results and less left to judges and such. When opinions define results you are just asking for money to sway decisions.

That’s why I like showing in the jumpers. It’s timed and up to me not to knock things down. Who cares if the judge hates chestnuts? Or thoroughbreds?
Unfortunately my guy I just retired will probably end up in the hunter ring. Years of showing have taught me that all I can do is be happy with my ride.
I got bucked off in the warm up both years I showed at the junior league. One year he jumped the fence and took off down the road

You can talk about it you are just choosing not to talk about it.
I get this is a public forum and all but you can say things without "saying" them.
3rd gen horse person should know more. Ask your parents and grandparents about places to eat that should be well known to them. Ask them about the farms I mentioned in the business.

Only come off a horse twice in my life
First was around age 6 when I was riding in northern MI and told the kid the tack was not right. Sure enough, at full canter the saddle rolled under the horse with me still in it. Did not last long and to the ground I went but after that I did my own tack work most of the time.
Second was in my 40's and did not recheck the tack as did not want to be rude (was sort of in the early dating stage with the owner) and off I came with some painful micro tear's for not paying more attention.

The road around the track or the main road connecting Versailles Road to Broadway ?

The main road. Took them an hour to catch him. Peoplevwould always ask my trainer if he brought “that bucking horse” to the shows.
I still fall all the time. My current horse falls with me a good bit. But he’s 15.2 so much closer the the ground. My baby was 17 last time I had a stick in him. That’s gonna suck the first few falls.

When was the last year you did the Junior League in LEX?
Posted on 1/5/19 at 11:32 pm to Aspercel
Was it hot and humid that year?
Posted on 1/5/19 at 11:38 pm to Cheese Grits
Probably? I don’t teally remember
Posted on 1/5/19 at 11:47 pm to Aspercel

It turned into a general horse discussion thread

Each one will need 18 to 20 pounds of clean hay EVERY SINGLE DAY, plus oats, supplements, probably some fat AND horse-sized vet bills. PLUS grooming, shoeing (if ridden), etc.
Even if a horse is free, most regular folks either can't afford the upkeep or don't want that to look at/ride a horse a couple of times per month (at most).
Most gals love the idea of a horse. When you explain to them how much they would cost, even if free, they usually say, "Nah. I'm good."
