Were your parents religious? I think there were some things my dad would "overlook". I learned when I was older that he was the type to never miss a party.. Was kind of wild. Which when I thought about it made since.. I was still scared of him... The worse thing my mom could say was "don't make me tell your daddy", but looking back, I am pretty sure there were several times he caught me or my brother with a nudie mag or watching porn.
I can understand whoopin you for something like throwing rocks at cars (which happened to me), etc, etc.. But the whole porn thing seems natural for teenagers. Hormones running while.. Of course they are going to look at it.

We were fancy. Had a remote control knob by the TV that did that. Either rotate it toward Memphis to pick up 3,5 or 13 or towards Tupelo to pick up 9.
Also, only had to dial the last digit of the phone prefix then the last 4 digits, instead of the whole thing. Instead of 534-1234, you'd dial 4-1234. Oh well.

Kids will never get the satisfaction of being mad at someone on the phone, cussing at them and then slamming the receiver down on the base as hard as you can and the making the ringer ring.

Or not being allowed to have phone calls after 9.. So you hold down the dial so that when you wait for someone to call back as soon as you start to hear it ring you take your finger off and hope it was not enough to wake your parents.
