This is more so my whole body and isn't painful per say, just wanting to itch and very loopy from all the antihistamines in my system. Last night after the Zyrtec wore off, I noticed my feet and hands to be the first parts to flare up again, then shortly everything else. That's when I took my dose of steroids and a Benadryl and went to bed.
I'm sweating like crazy from all this medicine at night, my room temperate is cool and I'm comfortable going to bed. When I wake up it's like a just worked out, very sweaty.
I'm zonked out on my couch for the day. Hope the docs call and we get some sort of progress going.

you 100% need to see an allergist. I have been under one for 28 years now. Bad seasonal allergies, pet allergies, and even recently "food/shellfish allergies" almost died. They will prick your back alot, it isnt bad at all. Just will itch, the pricking wont hurt at all. You need to find out what u are allergic to and what you need to do to avoid it. I take allergy shots weekly because my seasonal allergies are so bad. But it sounds like you have came in contact with something or eating something. What have you been eating on the days of your reactions? Eggs, nuts, wheat, shellfish, etc? Anything that carries allergies.. even if you have not had a reaction before it can start. I had my first shellfish allergy at 26 years old and almost died!

i am almost this way with shellfish. i will NOT eat anywhere that even serves shellfish on the menu. I dont trust any of the cooks enough with the scare of cross comtamination. My reaction was so bad, it really scared me and changed my life.

Went to my PCP at BR General yesterday morning. They said "We'll call you to get the ball rolling for an allergist.." That's all. They made me come in just to hear that and fork up a co-pay. No call back since.
How the f*ck are you unable to call a patient back the same day with a freaking referral? They really have zero sense of urgency. I'm going to attempt to go into work today. shite is still flaring up between the steroids, Zyrtec, and Benadryl.
I'm sure some don't care for this thread, however it's my source of hope right now lol. Whatever this is, is no joke. Thanks for the continued input.

dont be so down man, it will get better. The allergy specialist will pin point it and this will get better.

Doctors gotta doctor.
Between getting the 'Benz washed, a round of golf, flirting with the nurses, meeting with the investment advisor, free lunch with hot pharmaceutical rep, a patient or two, they are busy man.
They'll get back to you. I hope.

Man, I feel your pain. I just went through a year or two of chronic hives/itchiness. This came about sometime AFTER I started seeing an allergist and getting allergy shots (which did me a world of good, by the way.) I saw my allergist for this (Dr. Redhead - BR Clinic), and he said that with chronic hives, the cause is often not known. Not accepting this advice, I tried EVERYTHING to determine the cause (food avoidance, $1000's for supplements, medical testing, T-shots, etc., etc., etc.) The ONLY thing that ever worked was avoiding the foods that I knew I was allergic to (shellfish...which wasn't the cause, but certainly brought about an onset quicker when I ate it), and zyrtec. Thankfully my hives mysteriously subsided about 6 months ago and haven't returned. To this day I cannot point to a single cause or reason for their disappearance.
In the interim, stick with the zyrtec - your body will eventually get used to it and the loopiness will disappear.

Is it necessary that you have a referral? Is this an insurance requirement? If it's not, call Dr. Menon explain situation and they may see you right away.
If this problem is continuing since it started, you really do need to see someone very soon. An allergic reaction can intensify with repeated exposure to the offending element and can become an anaphylactic reaction which is an emergency.
Are you having any mouuth or throat irritation, how about your eyes, any redness?

I'm gonna make some calls. I'm not waiting any longer, I can't.

Around my lips a bit, but my throat hasn't been bugging me as much, if any. Eyes haven't either.
OH ALSO! Came into work today and my boss mentioned that he had shingles recently, as in the past 14ish days. I'm pretty sure I never got chicken pox as a kid, kept up with the shots and stuff. Anyhow, thought that was worth mentioning.
I might post a picture of what it looks like from last night before I went to sleep. Not sure if I'll get flack from it.

If you haven't got a call back yet, I am thinking your doctor may have already closed for the weekend. Maybe need to go to a walk-in clinic?

How long have you been on anti anxiety meds?
ETA shingles are not a generalized wide spread itchy rash. The shingles lesions are found along a nerve tract and are in pretty much a straight or curved line along the nerve and are reported to be very painful.

Sorry about the med school rejection letter, hope you don't carry that bitterness around too long. Between this and the optom thread, your schtick is getting pretty tired and sad.

UPDATE: (btw BR General never called me back)
Went to see Dr. Redhead at BR Clinic. I can't say enough about his knowledge and patience to answer all my questions. For the next week I'll be on:
- Pepcid 20mg each (one at morning, one at night)
- Clartian 10mg (one at morning)
- Zyrtec 10mg (one at night)
(While I wing off the 6 day dose pack of steroids)
After my conversation and showing him the photo I took, I at least have a game plan on how to deal with this - that's more than I had this morning. He mentioned this is a extreme case of hives. As long as my throat and tongue don't swell - we're good.
To all that suffer from this, I'm not worthy. I'll only update if this continues to get worse of if we find the cause.
Thanks again everyone!

Sorry to hear about your experience.
I broke out with some sort of rash about 2 weeks ago. Went to the out-patient center in West Monroe, got a couple of shots and some steriods(dexamethasone) to take.
Cleared it up, I had to quit take the steriods because the pills were giving my extreme stomach acid and was buring my throat with the acid reflux.
I was mowing grass and I thought maybe it was poison Ivy, nope. Thought maybe I had got shingles, nope. BTW, from what I understand shingles is not contagious.
No change in diet, soap, detergent etc
The only thing I could think of was that I changed the sun screen that I use everyday. Same name brand but this was for 'sensitive' skin.
Anywho, I threw the stuff away and went back to my original sun screen.
Been good ever since.
Good luck

UPDATE: This has gone away. Hasn't shown up since Saturday morning. Completely random hives.
Hope it doesn't happen to anyone else!

Good for you Texastiger.
Like I posted to you, I wouln't go through the allergy testing unless you have further outbreaks. Back years ago when I had my serious outbreak, my doc took a wait and see attitude to see if they returned. In my case, it has never happened since.
