quote:you said they tackled so yep, I got the right video.
You must be watching the wrong video. They tried to taze him twice and it was uneffective, then they tackled him
quote:how is physically trying to take down a guy with a gun a good option, at any point? I'm no cop, but that makes no sense whatsoever logically speaking imo.
They have to contact this guy so being all calm and trying to talk to someone like a human being is probably a better approach than just jumping out of a car and pointing a gun at someone

This dude could have shot at the officers and some people would still defend this POS. He was breaking numerous laws and resisted arrest
like i said earlier.. good riddance.. pos thought he was above the law, got what was comming to him. He basically asked for it.
rip, pour a 40 out for the homie tonite

We don't know what their approach was. Do you?
First thing I see is them tasing him. Seems pretty aggressive there.

quote:Yea cause that's the same as receiving a report of a guy with a gun.
Cops assume everyone has a gun. Every traffic stop. Every warrant served. Period. You think they should all confront every situation to start with their gun out?
Seriously?
So absurd.

I'm just saying that I don't think they are going to let this go

Would you agree that their approach was incredibly calm for a perp who was supposedly waving a gun?

That is markedly different from a call where the perp allegedly is waving a gun and you know that.

no shite? Not a cop. Shocked

Cops responded to a man outside of a store with a firearm.
He doesn't comply because he's a convicted felon and going back to jail.
Why do I care?
Plus he resists...cop warns him before shots fired .... Something about a gun.
If he doesn't care about his life why the uproar.

1 of the 2.

Actually, if they haven't seen the gun and the guys hands are visible and with back up right there, it is a reasonable option to try to tackle the guy after the taser failed.

It's simple. Don't resist and you don't run the risk of being shot. Be an a-hole....get shot.
Posted on 7/5/16 at 10:21 pm to shel311
It's not. But your argument is that they should have had their guns out from the first moment as if this was a raid or something. It was a guy outside a store who's been there for years. They likely at least knew of him. it was anonymous tip. Not the store owner or someone on the phone in trouble. Just a "go check this out". So they did. Where it went from there we don't know but they did all they could to avoid using bullets. Something you have campaigned for here multiple times, yet here you are still saying they did it wrong.

How triggered are you by this useless piece of crap being room temp right now?

That is hardly true.

Fair, but doesn't mean he deserved to die. At this point I'm perfectly fine suggesting the officers were within their rights and the shooting was justified. It doesn't mean it was the optimal result and we should promote the officers as some have suggested.
Posted on 7/5/16 at 10:24 pm to slackster
Would you rather calm officers or jittery officers? Some of the comments by people who don't have a clue about police work are pretty comical
Posted on 7/5/16 at 10:24 pm to shel311
I'm not being irrational. I'm explaining why the cops wouldn't show up without their guns out immediately. How can you not understand? Ignorance or on purpose (trolling)? Has to be one of the two.
